Multiplication of control points now a reality(largest level in its class)

With the maximum I/O control pointcount is 512, it boasts the highest levelof control points for a bit level network. In addition, there are 256 connectionnodes and, because of a variegated 1,2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 point I/O unit lineup, you can efficiently mount up to 512control devices to correspond to thequantity of I/O devices desired.

Alleviates the burden laid on engineer for designing and wiring

Cascade wiring

In order to enhance wiring layoutfreedom and control, labor-savinghook-up connectors are used enablingmultiple ‘T’-branch hookups whereverdesired. Because there are no branch-count restrictions or main cable /branch cable differentiations, a genuinefree-layout has been realized. It goeswithout saying that cascade wiring (buswiring) as well as multiple branchwiring (star wiring) is also possible.

We’ve realized a bit level network without the need to specifying upper-level networks

Thanks to a PLC I/O connector, theycan be connected to almost any PLCunit foreign or domestic. Also availableis a computer control board that is PCIbus, ISA bus, even VME buscompatible. Any upper-level busconnection will do without the need tospecify. They can also be linked toopen networks (CC-Link, DeviceNet),which are becoming more and morepopular throughout the world.

Commercially available cables and connectors can also be used

Available for the S-LINK V is an exclusive 4-core flat cable and exclusive hook-up connectors for your labor-saving needs. On the other hand, they are also compatible with commercially available 4-core VCTF cables (without shield) and connectorsenabling hookup with the cables you have already in stock. For worksites already wired-up, new wiring work does not have tobe performed making these highly efficient devices help greatly reduce material and labor costs.

All models conform to CE marking (EMC Directive)

EMI standard EN 50081-2EMS standard EN 50082-2 and EN 61000-6-2In noisy FA worksites, conforming to CE marking (EMC Directive) is the very least of its operating conditions. All S-LINK Vunits have withstood testing criteria that went above and beyond those reserved for field devices (sensors) that have passedthe strictest of CE marking.

Superior noise-immunity performance

We’ve strengthened the conventional simple waveform noise resistance and enhanced reliability by eliminating the lostflexibility when setting up and the lost freedom and control when designing a layout.

EMISpecifications do not allow the generation ofelectromagnetic waves above permissible levels

EMSSpecifications include noise-immunity that eliminateselectromagnetic wave noise induced malfunctions

3 different selectable communication modes

Operating only the controller, communication modes can be selectedfor the entire system. Thanks to thethree A, B, or C selectable modes, youdon’t need to reconfigure or modify thecontroller or the I/O units depending onthe communication speed or the sizeof your system. By selecting acommunication mode correspondingto the speed and communicationrange, the desired communicationspeed / range environment can also berealized.

Merit of the 4-core flat cable

• Easy wiring thanks to a flexible cable• The ribbon-shaped 4-core flat cables are light, flexible,

don’t take too much space and can be used for easy wiringin the narrow spaces inside machines, along extendedproduction lines, etc. They can be manipulated easily forbranching, extensions, and even additional wiring.

• Wire-saving can be achieved simultaneously• Its exclusive 4-core flat cable makeup consists of 2 signal

wires (white / black) and 2 power supply wires (brown / blue). Now, only by wiring with these exclusive 4-core flat cables, power can be supplied to all I/O units scattered throughoutthe system as well as to every connected device.

S-LINK V

1016

Greatly enhanced system design efficiency

Because any wiring method, cascade, star, ‘T’-branching, etc., can be chosenfreely, there are no set restrictions forthe layout. This renders your I/Odevice layout design incredibly efficientwhen compared to other wire-savingsystems that only allow cascadewiring. In addition, the S-LINK V model lineupincludes a wide variation of unitsfeaturing 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, or 32 channels. Therefore, units can be connected asper the number of I/O device pointsenabling also the scattered installationof a small quantity of points. Surplusunit channels or excessive I/O device(sensors, actuators, etc.) interconnectedinstallations are unnecessary.

Reduce the wiring of your existing system

The S-LINK V system can be connected to any maker’s PLC. It can even beconnected to PC expansion slots (ISA bus, PCI bus), VME bus, open networks(CC-Link, DeviceNet), etc. Because it is compatible to any controller and network, the S-LINK V can be introduced to variegated systems as they are already setup. Also, even when the control configuration has been changed (PLC to PC, etc.),conformance can be achieved only by changing the controllers. In this way, the S-LINK V is a system that allows you to utilize to the fullest yourworksite’s layout investment accumulated until now. Even if changing your present system for the S-LINK V, its features, including areduced amount of cables, compact units, and ‘T’-branching, make the addition ofI/O devices as well as layout modifications simple and easy.Only by switching the controller’s communication mode, you can change theentire system. Purchasing each unit that conforms to specifications or changingthe layout itself is absolutely unnecessary.

Incredible space-saving now a reality

Each unit is compact making for greatspace savings along with minimalizingcontrol and intermediate boxes. Thiswill contribute to the overall downsizingof the entire facility.

Method of supplying power selectable

With the I/O arrayed terminal units(SL-VTB, SL-VTBP), the mountingor removal of short brackets enablesthe collective or separate supply ofpower from the system (S-LINK V)power supply and the load (I/Odevices) source to be selected at will.

Specialized knowledge not required

Because communication occurs viahardware, program communicationcontrols are absolutely unnecessary.Even worksites that are first-time userscan put this system to workimmediately after introduction.

Highly reliable

Because 4-core flat cables and hook-up connectors enable the reduction ofwires, the occurrence of faulty wiringor disconnections also goes down.In addition, all S-LINK V units conformto CE marking (EMC Directive). Thiscertification ensures high reliabilityagainst adverse effects from noisemeaning that you can use them withreassurance in the most demanding ofworksites.

Installation and removal of mid-systemcommunication cables possible

In case of large-scale equipment, many times we construct each unitright on site in manufacturing facilitiesor in subcontract factories. Because theS-LINK V enables the easy removal ofmain or branch cables even in mid-system with commercially availableconnectors and intermediate terminalblocks, when constructing new units, ifthe electric wiring is already setup, assembly can be done just byinstalling those units at the time ofdelivery and connecting the S-LINK Vwiring. Also, the electrical wiring can bechecked for each separate unitenabling the responsibility shared withsubcontractors to be clearly defined.

Greatly reducing labor when installing

Labor saving is realized thanks to the 4-core flat cable and hook-up connectors.Because the work of peeling cablecoverings, mounting crimp terminals, tightening screws, wiring cable ducts, etc. is rendered unnecessary, installationtime is minimized. This enables the lead-time to be shortened resulting in moreequipment completed in less time. Inaddition, the overall stress level of onsitepersonnel is relieved and morale goesup. Surplus auxiliary materials (cables, intermediate terminal blocks, etc.) areunnecessary making for reduced totalcost. Also, using connectors to add on orchange sensors and units is made easy.No wastes from peeled off cable endsmeaning you are left with a wire-saving,environmentally friendly system.

Noise-immunity performance at par with world standards

S-LINK V units conform to CEmarking. The CE marking is acertification that guarantees reliablenoise resistance. We provide this worldstandard noise-resistance performanceto you, our valued customers.

We’ve realized low required maintenance

Because operators can receive erroroutputs for each malfunction cause, they can look into the trouble at handimmediately. Also, damaged I/Odevices can be replaced easily withthe help of connectors.

Less time required means lower construction costs

In recent years, many productionprocesses have been moved overseasand cases where equipment had to beset up in those new foreign worksiteshave increased dramatically. It goes without saying that the periodof t ime needed for setting up theworksite equals the period personnelmust remain in those countries. A longinstallation period means anoverextended stay bringing up overallcosts. The S-LINK V promises a shortinstallation time period making forgreat reductions in labor costs forelectricians.

Worksite installation friendly and easily connectable terminal blocks

AmpleCOM andCOM terminals are imbedded in the I/O terminals renderingintermediate terminal blocks unnecessary.

Variegated I/O units available

Made available are 1 and 2 channelI/O units (SL-VCH ) that can beconnected without wasting mid-systemscattered I/O units, relay outputterminal units (SL-VTPR) that can beconnected to high capacity outputdevices up to 3 A, connector I/Ou n i t s (SL-VT J, SL-VTP J,SL-VT16C1, SL-VTP16C1) that comein installation-friendly 4, 8, and 16channel types, and 4, 8, 16, and 32channel type I/O arrayed terminal units(SL-VTB , SL-VTBP ). You canselect any of these in accordance withyour specific worksite environment.

Put your open network’s capabilities to work for youExample when using CC-Link:The conventional model, forerunner to this new system, could only handle up to a 128-point I/Odevice control. The new S-LINK V can control 4 times that amount for a fabulous 512 pointmaximum. However, the CC-Link has the same amount of 4 stations. Because of this, it is possiblefor the S-LINK V to economize stations, which can then be utilized by intelligent devices such asrobot controllers, etc.

APPLICATIONS

Semiconductor manufacturing equipment

Automated assembly equipment

Distribution and conveyance equipment

The era of the 300 mm 12 in wafer has arrived andmanufacturers demand ways to save space in theirclean rooms. Both of the S-LINK V’s I/O units are space-saving types greatly contributing to the reduction ofsquare-footage needed by equipment by significantlydecreasing the amount of total wiring including powersupply cables.

It is of great necessity for industry to meet the fastintroduction of new generations of, as well as thegrowing demand for, HDD, DVD, cellular phone andother high-tech device manufacturing equipment. TheS-LINK V is a wire-saving system that offers a high levelof control and freedom in any and all situations. Becauseof this, it not only reduces the overall manpower in themanufacturing sector but also does the same fordevelopment and design sectors as well.

This system is perfect for efficient wire saving for I/Odevices scattered all over a wide area. If by any chancethere were a disconnection of wires, the problem areacan be located immediately making this system easilymaintainable.
