Pastor’s Ponderings
Have No Anxiety
Really? Have no anxiety? Is
that possible?
I have not managed that all the
time. However, I significantly
reduce my anxiety when I do
what Scripture calls for:
6 Have no anxiety at all, but
in everything, by prayer and
petition, with thanksgiving,
make your requests known to
God. Philippians 4:6 (NABRE)
When I choose God and prayer
and gratitude, then anxiety is at
least reduced if not eliminated.
We have choices we can make.
We do not have to be stuck in
our anxiety. We can open our-
selves up to God in prayer and
let God bring peace.
Too often, we let anxiety either
run us off or get us engaged in
conflict. The fight or flight
tendencies can kick in. But
Scriptures call us to a different
approach, standing strong:
Finally, be strong in the
Lord and in the strength of
his might. 11 Put on the whole
armor of God, that you may
be able to stand against the
schemes of the devil.
Ephesians 6:10-11 (ESV)

When we stand strong in the
Lord, we are not limited to our
abilities to handle situations.
We are equipped by God.
And we are then not worked
over by circumstances and
anxiety because we have
what we need.
As we seek to move forward
in our faith and in mission
with the Lord, may we
discover continually the
power of prayer, the power
of standing strong with the
Lord. ~Evan
Pray continually;
give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you
in Christ Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father,
We are grateful for the ultimate price of freedom
paid by those fallen. As we remember those who
have made the ultimate sacrifice for the free-
doms we enjoy every day, we think of how they
have followed in the footsteps of your son, our
Savior, Jesus Christ. Please hold our servicemen
and women in your strong arms. Cover them
with your sheltering grace and your presence as
they stand in the gap for our protection. Let our
military brothers and sisters feel our love and
support. In the name of Jesus. ~ Amen.
