This week, we’re prayingfor Immanuel Lutheran Church of Callaway, with Pastor Del Stohs.

Is the church an essential part of your life? Or could you survive without it? How

relevant is the church in your life?

/essential/

Adjective1. vitally important;

absolutely necessary:

2. basic or fundamental necessity, essential, requirement, requisite, necessary anything indispensable; “food and shelter are necessities of life”

“It should be harder for people to quit the church than to join the church,” says Pastor Tim Rice, “If the church is truly essential, it’s something you cannot do without.”In research that was done by the Rainer Group, they identified reasons why people drop out of church. Being offended didn’t even make the top 10. The #1 reason people drop out of church is because they simply “want a break from church.”

Have you turned in your 2009 C.F. Membership Info Form yet? Please

do it today!Available in the church foyer.

Anybody feel like you need a break from oxygen? Feel like you need a break from shelter… or food?

Changing the atmosphere of the church isn’t enough; changing the physical setting of the church won’t make it essential.

As the body of Christ we must make a conscious effort to stop

looking inward and to begin to reach out. We need to become essential to this community. The cities of Detroit Lakes and Frazee and Perham should be different because of the church—more specifically, because of Christ in you, the hope of glory—because of C.F..
