February is National Bird Feeding Month This na-tional event was created to advance and publicize the wild bird feeding and watching hobby. The day cele-brating birding as a national pastime. Participants are encouraged to put up bird feeders and houses, take a trip to go birding, learn about their local bird species. Annually, the last Saturday in April. April 28 ~ Full moon. Known as the Pink Moon by the Great Lakes Indians because of the pink ground phlox that is beginning to bloom. April 30 ~ Arbor Day. Great Lakes Indians called this the hunters moon because after the harvest was time to hunt deer and other animals. October 22 ~ Haunted Harmony 4th Annual ~ Be afraid, be very afraid. Children’s area, 1/2 mile trek through the haunted hardwoods, pirate carnival and more. Trail lighted by jack o’ lanterns. Bring minimum 2 cans of non perishable food items for local food pan-tries or something for the animal shelter to get in. 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. Check it out on Facebook. October 23 ~ 30 National Give Wildlife a Brake Week. Started by the United States Human Society to bring about awareness of animals crossing roadways. Click here to check it out on the web.
