Sharavathi Adventure Camp Water Sports – Eco tourism


he Sharavathi river valley nestled

in the central Western Ghats in the

Shimoga district is an ecological

paradise. The Sharavathi River, rising

at Ambuthirtha in Thirthahalli taluk

flows north-west and drops down in the

Ghats at the world famous Jog falls.

The backwaters of the Sharavathi river

is about 60 km in length and about 15

km wide. The backwater was formed

when a dam was constructed at

Linganamakki. This backwater has

created many islands, creating havens

for water birds and rare flora and

fauna.

The eco adventure program is not

tourism. These programs are designed

to be ecologically sustainable, taking

into account the effect of tourism on

the environment. Therefore, strict care

is taken not to pollute or harm the

environment in any adverse way. No

alcohol and or cigarettes are therefore

allowed on the eco resort.

The backwaters also make it an ideal

location for water sports like kayaking,

canoeing and riding on the coracle

apart for taking long swims. The islands

also make an excellent camping site for

the night, away from the hustle and

bustle giving you the much needed rest

from city life.

Day 1 (Friday): Depart Bangalore Overnight journey SUV 8 hours.


Day 2 (Saturday): Reach Kargal Trek to Hosagithi waterfalls Lunch

Reach waterfront Travel on Coracle to island Camp.

Meander through mystic landscapes


Day 3 (Sunday): Breakfast Watersports Kayaking, Canoeing, Coracle

ride, swimming Evening trek to sunset point Dinner Overnight journey to

Bangalore Reach Bangalore next day morning 6 AM.
