During your stay in Monterrey you will have the chance to learn more about Mexican culture and traditions through extracurricular activities and visits to:

Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Monterrey will give a welcome orientation session. During the orientation session, different practical topics will be exposed: City guide, safety issues, emergencies and medical services, sightseeing, shopping, restaurants, campus regulations, program generalities, etc.

Tecnológico de Monterrey – Campus Monterrey offers the opportunity to live with a host family, at the residence hall or rent an apartment.

HOUSING DESCRIPTION

Host Family Program

The students would be able to experience the Mexican culture, improve their Spanish and enjoy Mexican life from a closer perspective.The fee for living with a host family includes: Three meals per day, individual Bedroom, internet access, housekeeping and laundry facilities

Residence Halls

The residence halls that the university offers have common areas, wireless internet connection, vending machines, photocopiers and telephones. Most of the students that stay at the residence halls are Mexican students that come from different states around Mexico.

Independent Housing

There is an abundance of homes and apartments for rent around the Campus. This provides the studens with the freedom of choose who they want to live (Mexican or international students) or live by their own. NOTE. We don’t recommend our student to reserve or pay in advance for an apartment off campus until they check it in person.

All students applying as independent students must buy the insurance requested by Tecnológico de Monterrey-Campus Monterrey. For more information about the insurance please visit: http://goo.gl/AJ9Zag All exchange students must provide evidence of holding a valid health insurance policy with comprehensive coverage in the host country for the duration of the academic period in which the student will be involved. If the student’s insurance doesn’t include the coverage required by Tecnológico de Monterre-Campus Monterrey, students will be obligated to purchase the health insurance requested above. are close estimates of the final price. Please ask for current prices when you apply for admission or wait to receive the final list of prices on your acceptance package. In either case the differences between these estimated costs and the final ones should be minimal.

• The exchange rate considered for the prices presented in US Dollars was 16.00 pesos per dollar.• The Host Family Program includes three daily meals (from Monday to Saturday), thus you may disregard

the meals estimated cost given separately.• All prices given in US Dollars are for reference purposes only and do not represent the actual cost since

variations on the exchange rate happen every day. Tecnológico de Monterrey will only charge tuition and any other fees or services in Mexican pesos, even though the payment can be made in US Dollars at the exchange rate of the day of payment. Important: Paying by an international transfer of money can only be made in US Dollars and not in pesos. Mexican pesos can only be paid once you are in Mexico.

• Apartment costs are based on the average rent of a shared apartment. They may vary due to the facilities they offer as well as the proximity to campus. The range may vary from 4,000 pesos to 8,000 pesos.

• The health insurance cost applies only if exchange students medical insurance does not meet the required coverage. Independent students will have to buy Tec de Monterrey’s health insurance. More information about required coverage can be found at the international student handbook, which will be sent after your admission.

The tuition payment includes:• 3 or 6 credits – Monday through Friday • On-line Spanish placement test (one per student)• Airport transfer only on the official arrival day• Orientation Session• ID Card• Welcome kit• Access to all university facilities (gym, swimming pool, computer labs, library, sports center, etc)• Student advisors• Transcript

The tuition payment does not include:• Local Transportation• Accommodation• Personal expenses• Meals• Cultural visits• Any other incidental costs

Before arrival, independent students should pay:• Full tuition• Depending on the housing option chosen, a $450 USD down payment for residence

halls or a $100 USD housing fee for a host family to secure reservation. The remaining amounts must be paid at arrival.
