Noah's Faith & God's Faithfulness

April - Week 3

Gen 6:6 The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.

Gen 6:11,12 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for allthe people on earth had corrupted their ways.

Gen 9:12-15 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you,a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me andthe earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between meand you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.”

Application

Are you most likely to be obedient to what God asks of you? Do you hesitate or fear the outcome orlack confidence? Read through Hebrews 11 and 12:1-3 for encouragement in your faith.

Is there something Jesus is asking you to trust him for today? Do you believe God’s intentions for youin this situation are good? When in doubt, remember God’s faithfulness and everlasting covenant.

The people in Noah’s day did not believe God’s warning, yet it did not stop Noah from obeying God'scommand to build the ark, saving his family and the animals. Knowing Jesus’ warning regarding hisfuture return, and his command to go and make disciples - what stops you from continuing to befaithful to this call?

Reflection Questions

Have you ever put your trust in someone or something when you did not know what the outcome wouldbe? Was the end result what you imagined?

What is the difference between anger, regret or disappointment? What was the cause of God’sdisappointment? How do we see God’s good intentions through the flood?

Gen 6:22 says ‘Noah did everything just as God commanded him.’ What might have been Noah’s biggestchallenges for this long term obedience? What are some hindrances to our obedience?

What are the rewards of faith that is carried through to fruition? How does the faith we are asked to haveregarding Jesus’ second coming compare to the faith Noah was asked to have?
