PTSA Says Thank You Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who helped with popcorn and BBQ sandwich
sales.
Izabel Dorsey, Judi Dolifka, Debbie Bartosek, Charles and Monette Whitsett, Holly
Sincox, Katie Raterink, Mia Jones, Susan Brossman, Jennifer Frank and Claire
Mann. Thanks also to the many parents who donated drinks and chips too!
Thanks to their efforts and your generosity, we made enough money to provide FIVE
scholarships to Seniors this year.
Beth Young - Scholarship Chair
TAKS Testing TAKS Testing will begin on April 26 and run through the 29. Please see page 2 for
testing subjects and grades. Also on page 2 is a listing of the school periods that meet
after testing. CBHS will be providing breakfast for all students.
SENIORS-you have to report to school for 3 period everyday. Third period begins at
11:50 those 4 days. If you haven‟t taken your fitness-gram you will be able to take this
during TAKS testing time.
PARENTS-please arrange any off campus appointments in such a way that they do not
interfere with the testing times. Any interruptions during testing affects everyone in the
room when a student is called down to the administrative offices.
Please get some good rest during this testing time.
We know that everyone will try to do their best.
Goodbye…. After 23 year at CBHS Mr. Schultz,
Assistant Principle for Engineering and
Technology, is moving on to Clear Falls
where he will continue to touch students
lives and futures. Below is a short note
from Mr. Schultz.
Thanks for the 23 years to work with
all the families and staff at Brook. My
family and I learned so much and have
developed great friendships. I will al-
ways be proud being a Wolverine and
wish everyone many more years of suc-
cess.
Yours
Sven Schultz

New Grading System for CCISD The CCISD Board approved a new letter grade range scale on De-
cember 10, 2010. The adoption of this new letter grade scale re-
moves the "D" and expands the "C" to a grade range scale of 70 -
79. This change is reflected in the legend on this progress report
and will not impact grade point values at the high school level.
Reasons to support the change will positively impact our students
as they are competing nationally for scholarships opportunities,
college applications, and NCAA eligibility requirements.

Show your CCISD Spirit and Vote CCISD has made it to be one of 7 districts across the USA to
compete in the SCHOOLE Awards. Vote now at http://
schoole.allofe.com/schoole/home to send us over the top. Voting
ends on May 5, and currently CCISD is in the lead for large dis-
tricts. Use every email account in your house. And vote today!
Below is a brief description of the program.
The SchoolE Awards were designed to recognize the best dis-
trict websites. The best websites follow good design practices,
have clear, concise, and complete content, and serve a purpose: to
fulfill its audience's needs. This is no different for K-12 school
district sites. We want to recognize school districts that deserve
to be recognized and reward them for their achievements in web-
site management.
No profession relies on efficient communication more than
education, and the district website is one way to increase commu-
nication. School districts not taking advantage of the opportunity
of a complete, fluid district website will never reach full poten-
tial. It is essential for school districts to have a web presence, and
the more innovative that web presence is, the more successful a
school district will be.
Wall of Pride Start as Low as $45 Want to see your name in lights!?! Well, maybe the closest thing
you can get is your name permanently displayed on the Wolverine
Wall of Pride! The Wall of Pride is the brick wall at the entrance of
Clear Brook. It commemorates successful students and events over
the years and sometimes serves as a memorial.
Project Grad 2011 is selling commemorative bricks which make a
great graduation present or mark a special event or occasion in your
student‟s year. The bricks are small enough to include a saying with
one student‟s name and a logo, and large enough for a list of stu-
dents and four logos. The prices start as low as $45. The Wolverine
and Diamond B logos are available but are not shown on the page
of logos.
We will be selling bricks throughout the year. The deadline April
29, 2011. If you are interested in purchasing a brick, please make
your checks payable to CBHS Project Graduation 2011. Fill out the
attached form on page 15 and mail it to Mary Faller, Attention:
Brick Orders, 14422 Redbud Valley Trail, Houston, TX 77062. If
you supply your e-mail address, I will send you an e-mail re-
ceipt. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions at
[email protected] or 713-829-4851.

and staff from our school. If you know any seniors from ABE

of you again.

2010 -2011 Advanced Placement Information
Brook students will soon have an opportunity to earn college credits by taking Advanced Placement exams. The AP tests will be given
during the weeks of May 2 – May 13, 2011. The cost is $57 per test, but students who receive free/reduced lunch may receive a fee waiver
that covers all but $9 of the exam fee. AP tests are scored on a scale of 1 - 5, with scores of 3 or higher usually earning three hours of col-
lege credit. A score of a 3 or higher also counts as one measure towards the Distinguished Achievement Plan for graduation. Advanced
Placement exams will be administered at Clear Brook in either the New Gym or the library, depending upon the size of the testing group.
The schedule for Advanced Placement testing is as follows:
AM PM
Advanced Placement exams help students: gain an edge in college preparation; cut costs of college expenses; stand out in the college ap-
plication process, and broaden intellectual horizons!
Students who wish to take Advanced Placement exams should pick up a registration packet from any AP teacher or the Counseling Cen-
ter, and return it with check or money order to the Counseling Center by March 25, 2011.

recognized as the best Choral group there, winning first place in
the Concert Choir category! Company B competed as a Spe-
cialty Choir, which means either Show Choir, Chamber Choir,

Nesting Flamingos Have you been flocked yet? This by far is the most successful
and fun fundraiser that Project Grad 2011 has to date.
You can contact Shelley Sikes ([email protected]), west of
I-45, Stefanie Rochelle, east of I-45, they will deliver these
beauties to a family of your choice. They pay a removal fee and
possibly an insurance premium. Then they can send it on to
another family. The flock will nest and rest for 48 hours before
moving on.
Flock your friends today…..

Bowling News
Clear Brook Bowlers Pick Up THSBC All-District Honors Clear Brook senior Ashley Lawley and sophomore Amy Lu added to their list of accomplishments this year after being recognized by the
Texas High School Bowling Club (THSBC) as members of the girls Houston SE All-District first team. Both were named after the 2010-11
Texas State High School Bowling Championships
Ashley was the top female bowler in the district with a 187 average, and Amy was second with a 178 average. They were selected by
coaches in the Houston SE district. Joining Ashley and Amy on the first team were Kristina Stephens (Pearland Dawson), Holly Strawn
(Texas City), and Carin Bennett (Texas City). All five girls were picked from among 56 potential candidates.
This was Ashley‟s second time being named to the All-District team as she was a member in the 2009-2010 season. Lawley was also
named to the 2011 Texas Youth State Bowling Hall of Honor, based on her bowling honors, scholastic average, participation in other activi-
ties (school, church, community), and general attitude. Our other Clear Brook all-star was newcomer Amy Lu, an experienced bowler who
didn‟t join the Bowling Club until February, but played a key role in positioning the Clear Brook girls varsity team into the regional and state
playoffs. Being only a sophomore this year, expect Amy to be major force in the district next year as well.
The girls all-district team participated in the All-District Team Tournament, held April 3rd in College Station, Texas, and competed against
25 other all-district teams from throughout the state. Support for the team was tremendous as fans yelled “Houston SE” every time our girls
bowled a strike. The team started with a 789 series, but quickly got into a groove with an 836 series in game two. All-District coaches Bob
Hon (Texas City) and Karen McDaniel (Clear Brook) challenged the team to bowl a 1000 series the final game. The girls responded by bowl-
ing their highest series of 953, lifting themselves into a 9th place finish overall.

Military Ball On February 12, the Clear
Creek Independent School
District Battalions had their
annual Military Ball at the
Moody Gardens Conven-
tion Center.. The Military
Ball is a once yearly formal
event that the Battalions
attend. There are 3 por-
tions to the ball, The For-
mal portion, which consists
of the Posting of the Col-
ors, and the dining, then
Guest Portion, which has
the guest speaker and the
Miss JROTC Pageant for
each Battalion. Brook’s Miss
JROTC this year was Miss
Jurban Villatoro. The Guest
Portion also has the retiring
of the colors. Finally, the
Dance Portion is after the
Guest Portion and is
where the cadets have a
chance to dance with their
dates. This year Clear
Brook had the responsibility
of Posting and Retiring the
Colors.

Over the weekend, on
March 4th and 5th, the
Clear Brook High School
JROTC went to the USMC/
Blue Bonnet Drill Meet.
This is an important compe-
tition as it is essentially the
step before regional's.. All
the teams except orienteer-
ing competed during the
competition. The Rifle and
PT teams went on Friday
the 4th, and the Color
Guard, Drill Team, and
Ranger Swim teams went
USMC/Blue Bonnet Drill Meet color guards in the compe-
tition, a male and a female,
and they performed great
as well. The color guards
performed their best and
got very close to placing.
The Drill team had an out-
standing performance in
their inspection and compe-
tition phases. Both of their
routines were performed
excellently, and we are all
proud of them.
on Saturday the 5th. On
Saturday, the Rifle and PT
teams did their competition
and they performed great.
The PT team did a great job
in their push-ups, sit ups
and their mile run, with
cadet Alvaro Hurtado get-
ting 1st place in the mile
run. The rifle team per-
formed well as well, and
each member put their best
performance yet. On Satur-

What does the 2012 Booster Club Do? Raises Money to provide an alterna-
tive to party hopping on the night of Graduation in a drug free, alcohol free atmos-phere!
Why should you get involved NOW since your child doesn’t Graduate for another 2 YEARS? During their sophomore year we raised $9,000, but we
need at least $35,000-$40,000 to pull off a successful Project Grad! Class of 2009 was fortunate enough to give away $38,000 worth of prizes to the graduating seniors as well as support the event at Main Event.
What Can YOU do to HELP?
JOIN The Booster Club TODAY! GET INVOLVED! See if your Company gives back to the Community
