SPRING 2015 VOL. 13 Studio News I would like to commend everyone for a great year. I’ve been blown away by some of the progress made this year and I’m proud of each and every one of you. I hope you’ll take a moment to review some of the recent achievements to celebrate that are listed below, as well as take a moment to read the article I’ve included on back of this newsletter. Thanks for a great school year and I can’t wait to witness what is in store for all of you in the future! -Craig Noteable Achievements Congrats to the following students who recently competed in the district solo and ensemble festival. The following were awarded the highest possible rating of distinguished: Jax Benson, Anna McAvoy, and Katie Vazzana (Lexington Catholic) Lucie Allen and Jesse Klus (Sayre) and Brian Davis (Lexington Christian). All Students from my studio were recognized as distinguished! Way to go!!! Congrats to Manda Bweveru who was recently selected to attend the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts this summer at Centre College for classical voice. Governor’s School is HIGHLY selective and Manda was chosen out of over 700 applicants. Way to go Manda! Special congrats are in order for Jacqueline Whittle (Lexington Catholic) who was awarded a $36,000 vocal scholarship to Butler University. Congrats to Eliot Gleeson (Henry Clay) who was awarded a $20,000 vocal scholarship to Wittenberg University. Amazing work to both of you! I can’t wait to see what is in your future. Sydney Deaton has been selected to for a Screen Acting program at the London Academy for Music and Dramatic Arts in August 2015. Great work! Jackson Adams has been selected to begin a two year certificate program at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles beginning this fall. Congrats! SUMMER LESSONS: I’m starting to reserve spots for summer lessons. Please speak to me in your upcoming lesson about what time may be best for you. Summer lessons are a great opportunity to get a head start on pieces for Fall NATS competition as well as the music for All-State Chorus auditions. It’s also a time we try to dedicate more time to ear -training/sight - reading skills which will benefit you in everything you do. I have 30 minute, 45 minute, and hour slots available. I look forward to getting you all scheduled. Thanks!

    Make Sure- to like my Facebook Page where I post a number of interesting and related articles. For you private studio folks, I also post your weekly musical term reminder there, as well as occasional announcements and reminders for all.

    There is also a Facebook group for my voice studio that can serve as a great way to find someone to trade lesson spots if you have a conflict at any time. If you would like to be added to that group, please let me know and I can share that link with you. It is a closed group available only to studio members/families.

    Summer Opportunity:Furman University Young Artist Vocal XP: The Young Artist Vocal Experience is an intensive one-week workshop for talented solo singers and choristers ages 14-18 who perform song literature, oratorio, opera, and traditional musical theatre. Participants have the opportunity to develop their skills through voice classes, master classes, small ensembles, musicianship classes, student recitals, faculty recitals, and special topic sessions. Private lessons with the Furman voice faculty are available for an additional fee. Participants will be selected based upon application information and recommendation of their private voice teacher or choir director. Follow this link or see Craig for more details!
