Workshop Sessions

The Impact of Kindness Stacy Kaiser, MA, MFT | Licensed Psychotherapist, Author, Relationship Expert, and Media PersonalityWhat is kindness? It is things like helping a person in need, giving a compliment, doing favors, etc. But it is beyond those types of things because it is also about being tolerant, understanding, accepting differences, and having sympathy and empathy. This workshop will provide information about how to hold on to your kindness in times of stress or with difficult people or difficult circumstances. You will learn how kindness impacts individuals, families, communities, and the world.

Leadership and StorytellingJaime Carias, MPP | Partner, College Success ServicesIn an age of social media and community involvement, youth today are seeking ways to share their personal story and record the impact it has on communities they serve. Students will have the opportunity to learn about “the art of storytelling” and the different ways to tell stories that enact a positive social impact. Students will gain a broader understanding of the concept of servant leadership and the capacity one has to follow their dreams, while utilizing their story to advance their community. Finally, learning to tell their story can help youth when writing their college personal statements, applying for scholarships, and preparing for job interviews. Students will learn how to take a proactive, rather than a reactive approach to achieving their career goals.

My Bag, My HomeRoy Juarez, Jr. | Founder, IMPACTtruthThis workshop will share the story of a young man’s journey from being a homeless teenager to a college graduate and business owner. The workshop will inspire and empower students through a series of powerful and compelling stories of the struggle to survive and not giving up on your dreams. The presenter will share a model for personal change, a framework of life skills, and a journey that will never be forgotten. Hear and learn what the power of dreaming, mentoring, and the desire for a better life can bring.

To the Beat of the Drum: Teamwork 101 and the Power of ListeningClint Pulver | Motivational Speaker, Professional Drummer, Actor, and PilotClint uses his professional drumming background to create an unforgettable hands-on workshop that allows students to learn the power of a team through the beat of the drum.
