My Philosophy of being a Chemical Engineering Student

The concern of the government today is to make the education system more responsive to the needs of the country. We need literate people in order to develop work competence and technical proficiency that will help the youth earn living. Recently the school experiences are provided to develop self-discipline, productivity, and hardworking citizens. That’s why pursuing college education is very important, it is the key to meet our dreams and goals in life and also to make many Filipinos more productive in their chosen field.

Like all other professions, the body of knowledge that constitutes the sphere of engineering continues to grow. The education of engineers is thus forced to focus on increasingly specialised areas of knowledge with the threat that the greater meaning of engineering is lost. At its heart, engineering is about production. Engineers take materials from the world about them and reshape them for the betterment of mankind. This requires a conscious effort and the application of logical thought to satisfy a perceived need.

Chemical engineering involves the formulation of concepts, the design of solutions and the creation of physical manifestations of those solutions. It utilises resources that may be inert, semi-automated or even living and it is driven by an instinct for survival, a need for protection and desire to develop.

Chemical Engineering is not free to be applied at will to any perceived need, but must work within cultural constraints and adhere to the moral and ethical standards of the society in whose service it is employed. Notwithstanding such limitations, its proponents do aspire to achieve the both artful and efficient utilisation of resources and the attainment of ultimate truth in the solutions derived from their efforts.

Thus, whatever training I am supposed to deal with, there should be willingness, extra care, initiative and dedication to the task assigned. So much so that my expectation to my job would be challenging and of course with good result most especially you are

handling or mixing chemicals. What I learned would be applied to real life situation if in case I would be accepted to any position I supposed to work with. One of my outlook in life is I know how to manage my time, developed patience and perseverance at the same time, proper handling of the chemicals and how to utilize it at all times.

In the near future, as a professional engineer I actively involved with my colleague and community leaders too. If I am going to ask myself this question: What I can contribute to the training so that it will be a memorable for me? Of course I hope to cooperate with my manager and follow the instruction given to me without any hesitation. From there you will develop camaraderie with the rest of the workers, if you know how to make friends and deal with them.

Though I sometimes experience burnout in my work, still I have to do some means to loss it because one of my aims is to achieve the realistic goals and wants in my profession. As I quote, “Our happiness depends not so much on our futures as on our disposition.”
