Prayer for the Week
Lent Week 3 Let us pray this week in Lent for those who don’t have the privileges we have. We are asked to pray for them especially through Lent and give what we can for that cause and to make extra efforts to draw nearer to God.
Lord, we ask that you provide for all those who do not have the privilege of education, a loving family, food and drink, those without a home . Please provide for the needs of all your children throughout the world. May we remember that you sent us your Son Jesus as a friend and comforter to us in times of our own need. Please bless us on our Lenten journey. Amen.

Headteacher’s Comments
Exams I would like to say congratulations to all of those students who did well in the January module exams. There were some fantastic individual performances which give me great encouragement for the summer’s results. It would also be fair to say that some students were disappointed by their results. I hope these students can gain motivation from that to put in the effort in the last few months of the year. MFL Year of Faith Competition Mr McGladdery’s 9U3 class made a video in French for the Catholic Partnership Year of Faith competition in January. In the film they talked about the importance of the school and the importance of their faith. We found out this week that they have won the first prize. Congratulations to all concerned. Bake‐Off Congratulations to Georgia Lennon and Erin Dobing who won the Catholic Partnership Bake‐Off competition last week. Public Speaking Competition Congratulations to all competitors who took part in last Thursday’s House Public Speaking competition. All students were a great credit to the school and the judges and members of the public were hugely impressed by the talents of our students. The overall winners were Jack Twydale of St Anne Line and Alex Foster of St Thomas More. Young Americans We are now only one week away from the visit of the Young Americans. I am looking forward to this visit immensely. There may be one or two places left – if you are interested please see Mrs Hayes. Well Done to all students who performed in last weekend’s Big Band Festival at Sunderland university and to those students who represented the school in the Catenian Public Speaking competition. All represented the school with distinction. Aarthi Suresh one the senior section of the Public Speaking competition and she now goes on to the national final which is in Manchester in September. General Notices Charity The 5p Bus collections are hopefully now underway. Due to half term the collections have got off to a slow start but hopefully you can make the most of the next 4 weeks of Lent. The money raised really does go to a good cause. The Sixth Form will be doing the £5 Challenge and other Young Social Entrepreneur projects so please support them whenever you can. Hartlepool Food Bank Please start collecting your 5 pences for the 5p Bus! Again this year, the House that raises the most money will get House points so get collecting. Also, we are collecting non‐perishable food for the Hartlepool Foodbank during Lent to help those who are struggling in our town. The items we are looking for are:
• Milk (UHT or powdered) • Sugar (500g) • Fruit juice (long life carton) • Soup (tinned) • Pasta sauces • Sponge pudding (tinned) • Tinned tomatoes • Cereals • Rice pudding (tinned) • Tea bags / Instant coffee • Instant mashed potato • Rice/pasta • Tinned meat / fish • Tinned vegetables • Tinned fruit • Jam • Biscuits or snack bars Anne Marie
Prayer Throughout Lent, we will be offering the opportunity for you to come and pray the Stations of the Cross and the Rosary which will be led by Anne Marie and some Sixth Form students. This will take place on Mondays during both P5 (12.15 pm) and P6 (12.50 pm) Anne Marie We won the Bake‐Off Challenge!! On Friday 1st March Mrs Moller took a team of two budding chefs Georgia Lennon (9A1) and Erin Dobing (9A1), to the ‘Catholic Partnership British Bake Off’ at St John’s School, Bishop Auckland. After three hard challenges of producing chocolate éclairs making their own choux pastry, a signature biscuit bake and show stopper decorated cupcake challenge our two stars were announced as the WINNERS! This was an excellent achievement as the standard was extremely high; the girls are to be congratulated. Mrs Moller
