Have your child find crayons and markers at home. Ask What’s your favorite color? and have your child answer I like (blue). Switch roles and have your child ask the question. When you are in the kitchen, look in the cupboard and refrigerator and ask your child What’s your favorite food? Encourage your child to respond I like (eggs)., using food that is in your kitchen.

Home study activitySing I Like Turtles with your child. Have your child find toy animals around the house and put them into a big pile or look at pictures of animals in a book or online. Ask your child, What do you like? Have your child point to an animal and respond, I like (frogs). Next you point to one of the toy animals and say There’s a (rabbit). Encourage your child to point to or pick up the animal and say I like (rabbits). Continue with other toy animals. Switch roles so that your child can ask the question What do you like?.

Your child will answer yes or no. If your child answers yes, give your child the card. Have your child point to the animals he or she doesn’t like and say I don’t like (dogs). You can do this activity with food items, too.
