time and having learnt much about chromatography and mass spectrometry as well as working in other small science organisations Stuart saw an opportunity to combine science with design for the benefit of related organisations. Consequently he chose to enrol in a part-time Graphic Design HNC to explore ideas.

In 2008 Stuart established a freelance design and marketing consultancy in Edinburgh with the purpose of working with innovative companies to help them communicate themselves better. In late 2013 Stuart returned and lives in Stirling and since has been engaging scientific and other organisations to continue providing design and marketing services to innovative individuals and companies throughout the UK and Europe. DESIGN PHILOSOPHYI typically find that I look for the unifying concept within the problem presented. Consequently I strive to get the right idea; then get the idea right. This often relies upon my lateral thinking, education and experiences in addition to specific research and rapid scamping of initial ideas.

BACKGROUNDBorn 6th February 1981 in Falkirk, Scotland. Attended School in Denny gaining an interest in physical education then choosing to study Sport & Exercise Sciences at Forth Valley College. While studying Stuart enjoyed the scientific and applicable aspects of nutrition. From this interest he developed an understanding of human biology and biochemistry. This lead to an interest in nutritional supplementation and pharmacology which he applied throughout two part-time jobs over four years.

Subsequent to his advanced Sport & Exercise Science HND Stuart studied Biological & Health Sciences at Queen Margaret’s University Edinburgh. While attending he furthered his interests in applied nutrition, pharmacology and life sciences in general. After graduating with a 2:1 Hons in 2004 Stuart was successful in gaining a place within an EPSRC funded MSc to study Pharmaceutical Analysis at Strathclyde University in Glasgow.

In Glasgow he studied the instrumental techniques to analyse all manner of organic molecules. Graduating in 2005 with an education that enabled him to understand the structure and function of organic molecules; Stuart gained employment within the bio-analysis department of Charles River Laboratories near Edinburgh.

However not long after Stuart relocated to work within a small metabolomics start-up company called OWL Genomics in Bilbao, Spain. After this
