Street Pastor Sunday

do….


Our volunteers offer….


We are on duty…

…Either as a street pastor or prayer pastor…Once a month (weekly if at a school)…Once we have done some training…In a team…Covered by prayer…with a vision to see our city loved, safe and ‘a good place to grow up in and a good place to grow old in’ – Zech 8:4,5 (The Message)…knowing 11,000 other street pastors are also making a difference!


When are we out and praying?

• City centre night time – weekends 10pm-4am

• City centre early evening – Sat 6pm-10pm• Southampton University – monthly events • Schools – some mornings, afternoon, events

– usually 2.30pm – 4pm term time


What have we done?

Since 2009 at night-time• Given over 17,000 volunteer hours• 3,283 pairs of flip-flops given out• Helped & cared for 1,125 drunk people• Calmed 413 aggressive situations• Taken 434 official requests for help• Collected 15,850 broken bottles and

swept up broken glass 1,591 times


What have we done?

Since February 2012 in youth & community (schools & early evening) :• Over 1,100 volunteer hours• Over 800 conversations with young

people• Been a positive presence over 145 times• Over 88 road safety concerns at schools

What do we want to do?Our city is in trouble…

• Cuts in services, e.g. youth services• School attendance is a big issue• Fostering places needed – see Families

for Forty www.families440.org.uk• Drinking / drug problems on the rise• Welfare reforms - debt and hardship• Housing issues• Break down in communities…isolation...


How can we as church respond?

• We want to respond and be part of a solution

• What if we all gave a few hours a month to volunteer and/or pray? Just imagine…

• We can show the love of Jesus by practically caring and being present in our communities

• Together we can make a difference

There are many city wide projects helping, loving and caring for our communities. (More info coming soon!)

Our city needs our help – Street Pastors’ response…

Millbrook last weekend

Street pastors are planning to put out a new patrol in October into Millbrook.


We need your help…

…We need 32 people to pray and patrol once a month Fri or Sat 6-10pm


Our city has called the church…

• We have 3 schools on the waiting list wanting street pastors

• We have 2 new areas needing night time patrols

• We have 3 new areas needing youth & community patrols early evening

• Our current patrols need more people• The police and council have asked for

us!


What can you do?

• Rev Les Isaac, founder of street pastors has a vision that every Christian in the country will sign up at some time and give 2 years to street pastors!

• Volunteer as a street pastor• Volunteer as a prayer pastor• Be 1 of 100 / support us financially in any way• Pray for us• Support us in any way you can think of!
