easy by the disunity of the secular pares. Since
the BJP come to power it has openly expressed its
agenda of hate. The silence of the government on

urge to impose their world view on majority of the India populaon. This camp lacks the real understanding of Indian secularism which is tolerance to all religions and cultures as indicated by the dictum “Unity in diversity”. Even ultra secular sociees have come to accept this fact.
Another argument made by both the secular camps and communal forces alike is that Muslim women are badly affected by Islamic Sharia. These people are so patronizing that they hardly care what Mulim women actually think
about the issue. Muslim women took to the streets in large numbers like never b efo re to re g i s te r t h e i r s t ro n g condemnaon of UCC. As they rightly ask, why should anyone bother that they chose to follow a set of beliefs, as long as it does not affect others? Obviously let these champions of women's rights conduct a survey among Muslim women to know what they think before they act as patrons of Muslim women.
That leaves the government with two opons, either abide by the constuon in true secular sprit without interfering
in Islamic Jurisprudence and ensure the freedom to follow the religion, or, denounce Indian democrac secular polity as it is now and refashion secularism without any care for religious freedom by giving up the long held policy of non-interference in religious maers The government has to make its policy clear on whether or not the cizens, parcularly the minories, have their right to follow the religion of their choice.
School Chalo campaign covered 211 Panchayats
As “School Chalo”, the largest non-governmental education campaign in the country, concludes this year,
Popular Front units in all states, especially in localities that are very backward in primary education, went to
grass roots to ensure that all children of their respective locality are enrolled in schools. After making
household surveys in villages, the local units have distributed school kits to 26,000 poor children in
different states. The kit contains a school bag, note books pen and other necessary items for school
children. The campaign is conducted annually to create educational awareness among children and
families from impoverished and educationally backward areas with high dropout rates. The campaign has
been receiving encouraging response from these areas. The campaign covered 211 panchayaths in 51
districts in this year and nearly ten million rupees were locally spent for the campaign.

Secretary of Popular Front of India,
visited the house of the two
vicms who were brutally
beaten up by cow vigilantes.
The two men, Hafiz Abdul
Khalid, 25 and Ali Hasan, 35
were aacked outside a
Madrassa at Prem Nagar near
Nangloi in west Delhi on 14th

they were removing remains
of buffaloes slaughtered for Eid the
previous day. The men dragged the two
out of a tempo and hit them with iron
rods. They called in more men and soon,
around 24 vigilantes allegedly stripped
and beat the two vicms with scks. M
Mohammed Ali Jinnah interacted with
family members and offered them all
possible support. He demanded
stringent acon against the criminals.
He also asked the central and state
governments to ensure the security of
the poor people who make their living
from cale trading.

Popular Front acvists and supporters took out protest marches put up
posters against the witch-hunt led by central government against
Islamic preachers including Dr. Zakir Naik and against Muslim
instuons baselessly linking them with terror acvies. It is
suspected that the current episode is part of their aempts to put an
end to Islamic acvies in the country. Popular Front acvist in their
protest emphasized that such aempts will be resisted by building the
wall of popular resistance.

Gulbarg Society massacre case verdict disappointing:Popular Front of India naonal secretariat meeng held at Calicut said that the verdict in the Ahmadabad Gulbarg Society massacre case is disappoinng and not enough in providing jusce to the 69 innocents who lost lives and other surviving vicms. The special court convicted only 24 people and 36 others including BJP leaders were acquied. (04-06-2016)
Demands withdrawal of CBSE's yoga circular to schools : New Delhi: Popular Front of India Chairman KM Shareef in a statement demanded that Central Board of Secondary Educaon withdraw the controversial circular it had sent to all schools under it, as part of the celebraon of Internaonal Day of Yoga. The CBSE circular goes as far as asking schools to implement controversial 'Common Yoga protocol', developed by the Ministry of AYUSH, which begins with the channg of 'Om' and other Hindu religious Shlokas for children of classes VI and above. Not only it has advised schools to impose a culturally controversial pracce on students but also to inc lude yoga as an acvity for assessment under Comprehensive and Connuous Evaluaon (CCE) of students and provide grades for it in the report card. Clearly, the circular is absurd without any pedagogical significance and an assault on the religious freedom of minories. Shareef called upon the civil society to forefront together for the withdrawal of the controversial CBSE circular. (15-06-2016)
Communal agenda behind the move for Uniform Civil Code: Popular Front:New Delhi: Popular Front of India Chairman KM Shareef in a statement said that the latest move by the BJP led central government for seeking Uniform Civil Code i s p a r t o f t h e o n go i n g co m m u n a l polar izaon being spearheaded by Hindutva forces aheadof UP elecons. There has been an intensified aempt for
communal polarizaon in the wake of assembly elecons in and around the state lately. The proposed Uniform Civil Code is against the interest of the fundamental right to freedom of religion and minority rights guaranteed by the constuon. Popular Front demands that government abandon the move for implemenng uniform civil code. (03-07-2016)
Stop army excesses in Kashmir: Popular Front,Popular Front of India Naonal Execuve Council meeng condemned the despicable violence unleashed by Indian army on unarmed protesters in Kashmir. According to the reports, more than thirty people have been killed, and hundreds have lost their eye sight and sustained disfiguring injuries from the lethal pellet firing, a new experiment with cruelty. Many of the vicms are children who have nothing to do with what is taking place in the state. There is no jusficaon for this bare violaon of human rights. Army feels impunity in the state to commit such atrocies on its own people because of the protecon they enjoy under draconian laws like APSPA.The meeng demanded ban on the use of pellet guns on civilian protesters, repeal of AFSPA and bring to book all the responsible offices involved in the recent killings and human rights violaons in the state. ( 16-07-2016)
Express concern over the attempt to control Muslim speakers:In another resoluon, the meeng expressed deep concern over the aempts to silence Muslim speakers and Islamic scholars like Dr. Zakir Naik using the ploy of hate speeches. The meeng also condemned the media demonizaon of Zakir Naik linking him with terrorism. It is a reality that there are hate speakers like Praveen Thogadia and Sadhvi Prachi who have been terrorizing the people on a daily basis by spewing filth and incing violence. If the BJP government stand against hate speeches is sincere, before going aer pacifist preachers like Zakir Naik, it is their
own people who have to be controlled. Otherwise, it can only be considered as part of an minority agenda and assault on the right to free speech. The meeng appealed people of India to resist any such double standards. (16-07-2016)
Demand western forces to leave Arab - Muslim lands : In another resoluon, NEC meeng expressed shock on the massacre of people in Nice in France. Such killings of ordinary people for whatever reasons cannot be jusfied. At the same me such aacks are increasingly happening not only in relavely stable European countries but in other parts of the world too. These acts of terror give the message that western countries cannot remain peaceful while contribung to the instabilies and war in poor third world countries. There can be no soluon without addressing this reality. NEC demand all western naons to pullout their weapons and armies from other countries where they are illegally involved and leave the fate of other countr ies and people to themselves. (16-07-2016)
Applauds people of Turkey for defeating coup: In another resoluon, NEC applauded people of Turkey for defeang a yet another shameful coup a e m p t b y t h e a r m y a g a i n s t a democracally elected government by pushing them back to barracks. People of Turkey, who stood bare-chested before the army tanks in defiance, to defend their democracy, have taught a great lesson to the enre Middle East. It is a victory against the an-democrac forces, within and outside, that perpetuate instability and sectarianism in the region. The meeng expressed hope that other Middle Easterncountries also follow the path to democracy, peace and stability. (16-07-16)

Popular Front of India Chairman KM Shareef demanded strong acon against the culprits and ensure the safety and security to the Dalits. It is shameful for a democrac society that a group of people aacks others for their food habits, that too in the presence of police. The Chairman expressed support to the struggle of Dalit people for jusce and right to eat what they like. He also demanded to bring the perpetrators to book and give compensaon to the vicms. He asked the state government to take steps to control the hate mongers and demagogues who engineer such aacks. (21-07-2016)
Withdraw from moves to saffronize education system: New Delhi: A resoluon passed by the meeng of the Naonal Secretariat of Popular Front of India held in New Delhi called upon the g o v e r n m e n t t o s t o p t h e c o v e r t saffronisaon and corporazaon of the country's educaonal system and to solve the systemic problems of teaching. The government seems more interested in changes that promote their divisive polical agenda and allow unbridled entry of corporate business houses which cater only to the rich and the privileged. (02-08-2016)
Demands justice to the Muslim victims of cow vigilantes: In another resoluon the meeng demanded jusce for the Muslim women who were assaulted and humiliated by so called cow protecon forces in Bhopal. They were aacked in the presence of the police. Yet, instead arresng the aackers, case was filed against the vicms themselves. There are also reports coming from Uar Pradesh where Muslims were aacked for allegedly keeping beef. There also the police booked the vicms and not the aackers. Such shameful incidents become commonplace because the right wing perpetrators most oen roam scot-free without facing any legal acon. (02-08-2016)
Condemns Bajrang Dal large scale arms training in Ayodhya: The meeng condemned Bajrang Dal large scale arms training in Ayodhya as proved by video reports. Bajrag Dal is an an-people organizaon with a long history of violence and hate propaganda against religious minories. By this open display of disdain for the democrac secular system of the country Bajrang Dal is trying to create fear among minories and religious polarisaon ahead of elecons.
Condemns the attack on Indian army base: NEW DELHI: Popular Front Chairman KM Shareef in a statement strongly condemned the aack on Indian army base in Uri which killed 18 Indian soldiers. He expressed deep condolences on the lives lost in the aack. Our prayers are with the families and friends of the brave men who sacrificed their lives while defending the naon, he said. He called upon the Pakistani authories to stop sponsoring the forces of terror and instability in the region. (21-09-2016)
The statement reportedly made by UP Governor jusfying the Bajrang Dal arms training in the name of self defense shows t h e d e p t h o f c r i s i s m e t w i t h t h e constuonal mechanism of the naon. Popular Front demanded UP government to disarm BD and other militant groups all over the state and provided security to minories. (21-09- 2016)
