Sterling was founded in 2000 in Houston, Texas through an acquisition of the structural practice of Pate Engineering, Inc. Since then, Sterling has grown and partnered other notable engineering companies, such as CBM Engineers, Inc. Our portfolio represents the combined efforts of these companies and resources.

Sterling has engineered mid to high-rise structure across the country. We have designed buildings for a variety of uses, including residential, office, retail, and mixed-use developments.

This type of construction requires careful design consideration in order to withstand lateral and gravity loads. Sterling has experience in optimizing high-rise designs for explosive and seismic activity.

Sterling engages the contractor and project manager during the construction stage to improve efficiency in cost and time. Many of our projects, such as The Austonian and Two Post Oak, have received Gold and Platinum LEED certification, with the design playing a major role in acquiring the rating.

GLOBAL

Torre Sofia is a high-rise project located in Monterrey,

Mexico, designed by Cesar Pelli. Sterling was the primary

engineer on the project, responsible for all of the building’s

structural work and design. Torre Sofia is a 39 story mixed-

use development with distinctive architectural details. The

structure is LEED certified.

INNOVATION

1100 South Lamar is one of the most unique developments

in Austin, TX. It is a mixed use property repurposed from a

shopping center. Sterling used elements of the existing

design to create luxury residential space, and accommodate

for major commercial developments including an Alamo

Drafthouse movie theatre, restaurants, and retail space.

LEADERSHIPSandeep Patel, P.E., S.E. - President Mr. Patel received his Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Houston. After working for several structural engineering firms with a variety of different clients and projects, he started his own practice at Sterling. Mr. Patel has earned a reputation for providing innovative, cost-efficient design solutions.

Jarrod Hamilton - VP of Engineering Mr. Hamilton has been a leader at Sterling for over 14 years after graduating from Texas A&M. He has working on a wide range of projects including apartments, hotels, hospitals, garages, retail centers, and more.

Donald Brick - VP of Business Development After attending Southwest Texas State University, Mr. Brick began his own multi-family apartment management business. This experience gave Mr. Brick insight into marketing, management, and business operations, which he has brought with him to Sterling.

Slaven Seferovic, P.E. - VP of Engineering Mr. Seferovic has over 20 years of experience in structural engineering and project management. He has been a manager on projects around the world. Mr. Seferovic specializes in the development of mid-to-high rise projects.

Zeljko Arapovic - Project Manager Mr. Arapovic brings over 30 years of engineering

expertise to Sterling. He has served as an engineer, manager, and consultant on a variety of projects across

the globe. Mr. Arapovic has a thorough understanding of design practices gained from years of engineering

experience.

Jeffery Melkus - Project Manager Mr. Melkus studied engineering and architecture at Texas

Tech University. He has worked on major high rise and commercial projects for over 20 years, and provides

valuable management insight to Sterling.

Fred Yokubaitis - Project Manager Mr. Yokubaitis is an alum of Texas A&M University, where

he studied construction sciences. His construction knowledge has helped him develop design solutions to

issues commonly faced in the field.
