Sidelock panels offer a “flat” field assembled wallappearance for commercial, industrial, and correctional applica-tions. This concealed fastener panel provides an attractive wallsurface. Sidelock is offered with swedged ends so panels can beplaced inside each other to ensure proper allignment.

Noise Control Systems has 23 years ofexperience in the noise control business for industrial, commercial and institutional applications offering application engineering.

NCS combines quality manufacturing, standards and technical expertise to produce a complete line of efficientsound absorbing baffles. We manufactures standard sizedunits that are flexible enough to produce sound baffles tocustom specifications.

NCS provides a design service to assist the specifyingagency in the selection of sound baffles that will fulfill thefunctional and aesthetic requirements of the most stringentdesign parameters.

MATERIALS

The NCS wall mounted or ceiling mounted sound baffles(A-BAF), (F-BAF) and (FLAT-BAF), shall meet the requirements

of Federal Specification SS-S118B. The panels shall have a flame-spread classification of 0-25 for a Class A rating.

The NCS sound baffles shall be fabricated of standard .032 aluminum and 24 gauge steel. Custom materials are available.

The metal face shall be perforated using 1/8 diameter holes on21/64 inch staggered centers are 13% open area.

Sound baffles (wall and ceiling) shall be secured to the wall framing system with the NCS mounting bracket or wire hangersby others.

TYPE OF FINISH

STANDARD FINISH: Kynar 500CUSTOM POWDER COAT: The baffles shall receive a conversion coat of chemically inhibiting materials prior to receiving an electrostatically applied epoxy paint finish.

Finish is to be cured and baked dried in gas fired convection ovensto insure proper paint adhesion and uniform surface hardness.Paint color is to be TIGER DRYLAC finish.

NOISE REDUCTION COEFFICIENT

Noise reduction coefficient shall be (.90) (95) (1.00) (1.05) using asound absorbing fiberglass material of a minimum thickness of 2inches and a minimum density of 1.5 Ibs./cuft. Sound media shallbe unwrapped, polywrapped.

INSTALLATION

CEILINGS and WALLS: The acoustical contractor shall furnishand install the baffles using either the NCS direct clip system specified or 12 gauge wire hangers.

All materials and- workmanship furnished under this section shallbe guaranteed by the acoustical contractor for a period of one yearfrom completion date, and on written demand by the architect, anydefective materials or workmanship shall be replaced or corrected.

PRODUCTION PRESENTATION

CONSTRUCTION: The NCS baffle is a metal frame interfacedwith a perforated metal skin and an acoustical energy- absorbingmaterial. The perforated metal face is transparent to sound andallows the sound waves to enter the energy absorbing materialwhere a portion is absorbed as heat and mechanical energy.

APPLICATIONS: The Acoustical Baffle Panels are used to con-trol background noise and reverberation. The panels can economi-cally solve sound problems when used in areas such as theaters, computer rooms, auditoriums, gymnasiums, swimming pools, machine shops, restaurants, offices, school rooms, transportationfacilities, sound studios, waste water plants and industrial applica-tions.

Acoustical Baffle Panels can be mounted to the walls or ceilingsof the treated space either in single runs or in clusters to achievemaximum sound control. The baffle panels can be suspended ver-tically from the overhead structure or horizontally both as a mono-lithic ceiling system and as individual panels independently sus-pended to create a “cloud” effect.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

NCS’s Acoustical Baffle Panels are used primarily as soundabsorbers.

The Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of the Acoustical BafflePanels ranged from .90 to 1.35 depending on configuration, corru-gation pattern, spacing of panels and the mounting distance fromthe back of the panel to the support structure.

MATERIALS / FINISHES

METAL FACINGS: The NCS baffle metal facing is fabricated ofeither 3005- H174 stucco-embossed aluminum in thicknesses of.032 inches or G90 Hot Dipped galvalume steel in thicknesses of24 Gauge. The metal is perforated using 1/8 inch diameter holeson 21/64 staggered centers. This perforation has an open area ofapproximately 13% which is sufficient for excellent acousticalcharacteristics while retaining maximum material integrity.

FRAMES: The pre-formed metal panels are mechanicallyattached to either a concealed or semi-exposed metal U- Channelframe. The U-Channel is compatible with the facing metal and isformed of either .050 aluminum or 18 gauge galvanized steel.Standard baffle frames are manufactured to accept a 2 inch thicksound absorbing media. Panels from 1 to 6 inches thick are alsoavailable. Standard completed panel widths are 18”, 24” to 42”inches. Panel lengths range from 2’ to 10’ or 12’ depending oncorrugation selected.

USES / APPLICATIONS

NCS baffle panels are designed for interior and exterior applica-tion. If the baffle panels are used in an interior environment ofhigh humidity, NCS recommends that aluminum be used in lieu ofsteel. An environment of high humidity would also indicate theuse of a polyethylene encapsulated sound media.

NCS baffle panels are easily cleaned by wiping with a damp, softcloth. Panels can be washed with warm soapy water, however, theacoustical media should be removed unless it is wrapped in poly-ethylene. If the panels should require painting the acoustical mediashould be removed and a spray painting system should be used.

WARRANTY

NCS warrants the baffle panels for one year from date of shipmentfor defects from the manufacturing process. Written notice of thedefect is required and a representative from NCS may require apersonal inspection of the material in question.

PRODUCT PRESENTATIONNCS panel systems consist of one of our corrugation patterns, flatsheets or pan baffle type products. These can be installed either ina suspended ceiling grid or mounted directly to a furring strip sys-tem. NCS wall panels and baffles can be installed using our typicalinstallation procedure or, in the case when baffles are used, severaltypes of mounting brackets are available.

GENERAL Acoustical performance will vary depending on the specific densi-ty of the acoustical absorption material used and the constructionof the panels.

ADVANTAGESBy using the panel or baffle system, this product offers the highestNRC of any acoustical product with a class A fire rating in a

durable abs-resistant protective skin. Our products are easy toinstall and are more economical than most products sold for interi-or and exterior applications.

ALUMINUM PANELSNoise Control Systems recommends either perforated or unperforat-ed aluminum panels for either interior or exterior applications.

STEEL PANELS• Noise Control Systems recommends use of perforated or unper-

forated steel panels for interior applications only.

• Standard perforation is 1/8” diameter holes on 21/64” staggered centers which = 13% open area.

• Standard finishes are (1) Polyester paint finish; (2) Siliconized Polyester paint finish; (3) Acrylic finish; (4) Kynar™ paint finish.
