MSMEs in Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu has 15.61 lakh registered MSMEs– Highest in India
Provides employment to about 99.78 lakh persons– Highest in India
Accounts for a total investment of Rs. 1,68,331 crore. MSMEs produce over 6000 varieties of products
including engineering products, electrical, electronicschemicals, plastics, steel, cement, paper, matches,textiles, hosiery, readymade garments and so on.

EDII & CED Anna University to organise a PITCH programme for Start-ups with seed money support (upto Rs. 1 lakh) for TOP players
Seed money with mentoring support to start-ups- upto Rs. 3 lakhs

Scheme: First generation educated youth will be givenentrepreneurship training, assisted to prepare their business plansand helped to tie up with financial institutions to set up units withproject cost upto Rs.100 lakh
Promoter’s Contribution : 10% for General Category and 5% forSpecial Category (SC/ST/BC/MBC/Minorities/Women/Ex-servicemen/DA/Transgender)
Margin Money assistance: 25% of the project cost and 3% interestsubvention will be given as subsidy
Annual Target: 1,000 entrepreneursAchievement : Rs.220.80 Crore have been disbursed as subsidy
to 2,231 beneficiaries during the period2012-13 to 2016-17. 2

New Entreprenuer-cum-Enterprises Development Scheme (NEEDS)
Scheme: To mitigate unemployment and uplift the educated unemployedyouth particularly from economically weaker section by providingsubsidy linked financial assistance.
Financial Assistance: Upto Rs.10 Lakh for Manufacturing Sector,Rs.3 Lakh for Service Sector and Rs.1 Lakh forBusiness Sector provided through Banks.
Eligibility: Any individual, above 18 years of age, with minimumeducational qualification of pass in 8th Std with family income notexceeding Rs.1,50,000/- per annum are eligible for assistance.
Promoter’s Contribution: 10% for General Category and 5 % for SpecialCategory(SC/ST/BC/MBC/Minorities/Women/Ex-Servicemen/DA/ Transgender)
Subsidy : 25% of the Project cost.Annual Target : 5000 beneficiaries (Rs.25.00 Crore subsidy)Achievement : Rs.129.41 Crore have been disbursed to 28,875
beneficiaries during 2011-12 to 2016-17.
