STARLIGHTDIGITAL MARKETING AGENCY

This is a presentation about

Mobile Marketing

“Mobile has sparked a new world of media in which every object is a medium and every place, an opportunity for a message. There is no other platform that is as personal, as pervasive and provides the opportunity for proximity to connect with consumers in the right place and time.”

“As it turns out, blue — preferred by 57 percent of men and 35 percent of

women — is the best color to use if one’s product or message is aimed at a gender-neutral crowd. Blue, the color of

clear skies and competence, is the favored color of both sexes.”

To the right is an article by Mobile Marketing Watch. It suggests that colour is a more

important aspect in marketing than is thought. A lot of people overlook the psychology behind the

technique of using specific colours to appeal.

Perhaps this is reason for the colour scheme used on their website. I found this article interesting and the information useful to improve future advertising techniques at

Starlight Digital Marketing Agency. Check out the link below:

Mobile Marketing Watch article

“According to John Lewis, ‘It was not only the company’s busiest online

shopping day of the year, it also set a number of records – more than doubling

the previous record for daily online sales, and tripling it on mobile. During the peak hour, 7-8am, mobile traffic

was an incredible 14 times higher than ever before.’”

To the right is an article by Mobile Marketing. This is article is about how Black Friday broke

through into the UK’s public consciousness over the last couples of years and how UK retailers

started to take ‘Black Friday’ seriously. This year’s Black Friday is anticipated to be even bigger.

This article displays statistics and interesting insight into the impact of Black Friday and how profitable the day can be for companies if they get it right! Check it out using the link below:

Mobile Marketing article

“It’s critical for your brand to understand how mobile works in the

everyday lives of consumers, as well as how mobile has created deeper forms

of brand loyalty and paths to purchase. It is a direct conduit into the lives and habits of consumers. Consumers need

answers, and a properly mobilized brand can immediately provide

solutions that react and respond to consumers in real time and eventually

predict their needs.

To the right is a Mobile Marketing Association article which explores the importance of mobile marketing. It understands that in the current era this a tool for accessing a wide audience, and this

means that companies can be more involved in their consumers.

It shows that mobile is instant and this is an interesting concept, possibly revolutionary and something that a lot of brands are capturing.

QR Code ReaderDownload this App!

This app is for reading QR Codes. They work as shortcuts and links and may be printed on tops or displayed anywhere.

Below is Starlight’s:

Use the app to scan this and you will be sent to our website.

Cask FinderApp that uses QR Codes!

Cask Finder is an app that uses QR codes. This app is for beers fans and people enjoy

real ale. Bars across the country have their own QR code which can be scanned.

The app registers which pubs have been visited and users can compete to have an

ale in the most pubs across the United Kingdom, and now branching out to

Europe.

InstagramUsing QR codes to advertise!Instagram is a popular photo sharing app with lots of downloads. They could use

QR codes to advertise, as they display 1:1 photographs, the same as QR codes. This

way, if one person is on Instagram another person would be able to scan the code off

their friend’s phone.

• Major retailers, such as Ikea or Macy’s, can send store maps and coupons or offers to apply for their credit card or to enroll in their loyalty or rewards programs.

• Hotels can inform guests about on-site events and promotions or can offer to enroll them in loyalty or rewards programs.

• Restaurants can send special menus/daily specials, coupons, offers for loyalty programs, or perhaps send trivia questions or other games to help them pass the time

while they wait for their table to be ready. • Shopping malls can offer a proximity marketing benefit to their tenants by putting

together a package of coupons or offer a discount at any mall retailer.• Travel hubs such as airports and public transportation centers can provide maps or

display ads that can be sold to local tourist destinations. General information about a product or service can be delivered through proximity marketing even if the fixed

location of the business or service agency changes

Native mobile apps:

• A native app is one that is developed to be specifically for a specific platform: Apple’s iOS, Google’s Android, Windows Phone or (decreasingly) BlackBerry OS.

Hybrid mobile apps:

• Hybrid app can be installed on a device like a native app can, but it runs via a web browser. These apps are built using a language called HTML5.

• These hybrid apps are not as fast, reliable or smooth as native apps.

Web apps:

• There are actually three types of web apps: traditional, responsive and adaptive.

• Traditional web apps include any website

• A responsive web app takes on a different design when it’s opened on a mobile device (i.e. phone or tablet), altering its design to suit the device it is viewed on.

• An adaptive web app, in contrast, doesn’t change its design. It will display the same design, but will adjust it to fit the different screen size of a mobile device.

About apps and their development

iAds are banners that appear on apps on smartphones such as the one to the left. The

concept of an iAd is that the can be clicked on and the advertisement appears within the app and does

not open a web browser. This are becoming increasingly popular as they are less awkward to use and can be interactive. They also mean that you can remain on the app you are using and the

ad can just be closed.
