S P Setia’s corporate responsibility practices are governed by its Corporate Responsibility Charter of “Building Sustainable Communities for All” which promotes principles of integrity, transparency and sustainability in everything it does and is articulated in the acronym ECO, which stands for Environment, Community and Organisation. Environment Conception of every Setia’s development will take into consideration key sustainable features which meet international benchmarks for green architecture and sustainable development. The design concept stays true to the Setia DNA to ensure energy and water efficiency, environmental protection and advocacy of green initiatives to preserve the biodiversity and ecosystem. With all the green features incorporated to the development and we managed to receive the recognition for our splendid initiatives.

Environment

Setia Corporate HQ - first privately owned office and third building in Malaysia to be certified GBI and GreenRe Platinum

Lepironia Gardens –Best Landscape in Malaysia with an eco-landscape approach. Native resident fishes were released into the completed manmade waterways in order to create a balanced ecosystem.

Environment

S P Setia continues to leverage ‘LiveLearnWorkPlay’ Development philosophy in its international development such as the group’s regeneration project of the iconic Battersea Power Station. It gives a wider impact to the jobs, training opportunities, new transport connections, environmental initiatives and community facilities. In September 2016, Apple Inc become the largest office tenant which occupying about 500,000 sq ft of space at the Battersea Power Station. Battersea Power Station will deliver around 17,000 jobs upon completion. On top of that, Battersea Power Station will have its own on-site Learning Academy providing training and up-skilling opportunities so that local people are equipped to gain employment. In terms of heritage conserving, every historically important element of the Power Station has been catalogued and photographed to ensure the restoration is as precise as possible. The original brick supplier has been contacted and commissioned to re-create identical bricks for the wall repairs while the ornate glass ceiling of the Control Room and ceramic tiles of the turbine halls are being professionally repaired. Besides, the chimneys are one of the defining features of the London skyline and the two year replacement programme will see them painstaking dismantled and then rebuilt, using the same materials and techniques as the originals. The project builds on its innovative power generating heritage by including its own Energy Centre and creating an integrated district energy network between the variety of residential, retail, leisure and commercial uses. The Energy Centre could provides heating, hot water and cooling and in the process saving 6000 tonnes of CO2 per year compared with 2010 building regs. Vapour from the Energy Centre will be exhausted via two of the four chimneys when they have been rebuilt.

Environment Parque, as a landmark project in Melbourne integrates the built and natural environments, blending sculptural glass façade elements with one acre of lush landscaped designer gardens and extensive heritage grounds. The heritage listed grounds feature 150-year-old elms listed on the National Trust of Australia's register of significant trees, requiring careful site coordination to ensure trees are protected throughout construction. S P Setia’s another design philosophy which complies with the stringent standard of the BCA Green Mark Platinum Standard- Eco Sanctuary. The development is by itself a sustainable natural ecosystem that lets you discover the magnificence of nature. Inspired by nature, the design’s concept reflects the complexity of butterfly. The layout of the site traces the metamorphosis of the butterfly from the egg to the 'papillon‘. Other than that, the landscaping of the area is designed to integrate with the adjoining park and lead to a cycling and jogging trail. Another green features of the development includes rainwater harvesting, drip irrigation with rain and motion sensors. EcoLakes and EcoXuan, another eco-themed township in Vietnam based on developer’s LiveLearnWorkPlay philosophy that emphasize a holistic and balanced way of life. Both of them are fully integrated township which surrounded by natural landscape.

Environment S P Setia has been an avid advocate of World Environment Day (WED) since year 2008. The Group has commemorated the event annually with numerous exciting activities to generate awareness towards pressing environmental issues. The most recent WED activities by S P Setia saw the campaign, themed “My Better World”. S P Setia collaborated with Latfy Anuar Latif, a renowned Art Illustrator to produce “My Better World” Green Activity Book which serves as a tool for children to know on the facts of environment and how they can play their part in making the world a better place to live in. With this Green Activity Book in hand, S P Setia held eco-workshops with approximately 100 students from the S P Setia Foundation's adopted schools located across Klang Valley, Penang and Johor Bahru. These students learned about environmental concerns and best green practices via interactive activities such as story-telling, drawing, question and answer session. All of these are specially catered to children and nurture them into people who are caring for the environment. Towards the end of book, an empty page is reserved for the children to envision what constitutes a better world for them. Their visions were manifested in the form of drawing, paintings and collages using recyclable materials. S P Setia will continue on its quest to create greater awareness towards environment conservation through this yearly campaign.

Community S P Setia is more than just a builder. Wherever it sets its footprints, the group strives to connect its communities, creating sustainable environment that enrich lives. S P Setia Foundation has been lending a helping hand to underprivileged Malaysians and aiding those less fortunate since 2000. The Foundation has made a great impact to the society by implementing and undertaking numerous meaningful projects and focus on the shortcoming areas of education, poverty and welfare throughout multi-racial communities. In 2015, the Foundation launched Setia Caring School Programme which aims at cultivating and promoting the idea of a “caring” society among school students, teachers and parents of underperforming schools. The programme also seeks to instill good human virtues, strong moral values and a sense of nationalism among the future leaders of our nation.

Activities such as birthday celebrations, group activities, dance performances for Setia Foundation Charity Dinner inculcate a sense of camaraderie among students of various age, races and religious background and teach them to respect each other.

Community • Caring for your teachers

Self-crafted personalized gifts for teachers during teachers’ day celebration taught the children to love and respect their teachers who work tirelessly to provide them with solid education.

• Caring for the society Students from the Setia Caring School Programme’s adopted schools, namely SK Meru Jalan Tap, SJK (T) Ladang Vallambrosa and SJK (C) Lee Min, along with teachers, parents and volunteers visited Rita Home in Kapar, Klang, to spread Deepavali festive cheer to the residents of the home. The students also visited Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas LZS to spread Raya festive cheer to the elderlies in the spirit of Ramadhan. Prior to visiting the homes, students gathered to pack festive goodies and create personalised festive greeting cards for the residents of the homes.

Community Besides the Setia Caring School Programme, the Foundation also organised a join-graduation ceremony for total of 355 Year Six students from the Setia Caring School Programme adopted schools, namely SK Meru Jalan Tap, SJK (C) Lee Min and SJK (T) Ladang Vallambrosa, recently received their graduation certificates in a multi-racial joint graduation ceremony organised for the first time at Setia City Convention Centre. Themed “Celebrating Your Success: Fulfilling Dreams”, the headmaster, headmistress and teachers from three schools worked hand in hand to put together a heart-warming affair to celebrate the achievement of the students before they bid goodbye to their alma mater. Grounded by the belief that unity is vital to bring everyone together, collaborative efforts as such by bringing multi-racial students together under one programme should be emulated at large to ensure continuous peace and unity of the country.

Community Besides the Foundation, Setia EcoHill also hosted its inaugural Rescue Run in conjunction with the opening of the Lekas-EcoHill Link in order to foster community ties. Over 5,000 people from its neighbouring communities attended the run. Other activities hosted by Setia EcoHill included an outdoor movie screening for its residents. Meanwhile, S P Setia hosted inaugural KL Spartan Race at Setia Alam in conjunction with National Sports Day 2015. The race attracted an estimated 10,000 people who attended the event as participants or to cheer on those who participated in the race.

Recently, S P Setia bagged the “Best Employer” award for the seventh time at the Aon Hewitt Best Employers 2016 award ceremony. It also received a special mention award- the “Commitment to Engagement” award. Organisation Honing talent, creativity and execution power of Team Setia will continue to be key to the Group’s success. Team Setia is encouraged to attend training sessions, which are included in their Key Performance Index (KPI). A comprehensive yearly training calendar focusing on various competencies such as strategic planning, property insights and business communications, technical skills and leadership development is made available to all employees at the beginning of every year to further enhance the competency.

S P Setia also administers the People Pulse survey on a yearly basis, which provides valuable insights into its people issues and engagement level. Information from the survey helps the company innovate initiatives which target the core of people issues within the organisation.

S P Setia’s mission to provide an overall “wow” customer experience through a strong culture of excellence becomes attainable. It showed that a good customer service builds trust and it matters more than price. S P Setia continues in enhancing value for its customers through various good customer service initiatives. S P Setia has launched a long-term reward and appreciation programme called Citizen Setia for its existing and new property purchasers. All Setia Privilege Program (SPP) members are entitled to enjoy the privileges offered in Citizen Setia program. It is a platform through which Setia will offer various lifestyle experiences and privileges to its valued purchasers. Previous unique Citizen Setia experiences include “Citizen Setia loves Jet Setting”; where more than 60 lucky Citizens of Setia were rewarded with yacht cruises and all-expense-paid business class trips to countries where Setia has its presence namely; Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, China, Australia and the United Kingdom. Security Lastly, besides community enhancement activities, S P Setia also provide customer services above and beyond the call of duty in our continuous pursuit of excellence in customer service. Besides diligent follow ups on customer feedback and request, assisting in legal advice as well as providing professional consultancy, it is also the small gestures which put customers mind at ease which create lasting impression among customers. It is also a tradition at S P Setia to celebrate the completion and handover of projects to our customers by throwing them a dinner gathering or get-to-know-your-neighbours events. On top of that, S P Setia continues to improve of its products and services to meet the customer needs. Setia Eco Glades signed an agreement with Singapore’s ST Electronics to install its state-of-the-art AgilFence Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS) for the entire Eco Glades development. This security system will also be utilised in Setia EcoHill to ensure the safety and security of residences.
