From the Rector Very Rev. Joseph Tizio, C.Ss.R. Staffed by The Redemptorists I recently read an article in the paper entitled “Signs You Are Con- fident” and what amazed me was that some of the signs of being confident are really signs that you are a good Christian also! Here are some of the signs of confidence. 1) You listen more than you speak: “Truly confident people are quiet and unassuming.” 2) You are willing to take a stand because you are not afraid to be wrong: “Truly confident people do not mind being proved wrong. They feel that finding out what is right is more important than being right.” 3) You avoid the spotlight so it can shine on others: Truly confident people “stand back and let others shine – a confidence boost that helps those people become truly confident too.” 4) You do not criticize other people: “The only comparison a truly confident person makes is to the person she was yesterday and to the person she hopes to someday become.” 5) You are not afraid to look less than perfect: “When you are truly confident you do not mind occasionally being in a situation where you are not at your best.” 6) You admit mistakes: “Confidence breeds sincerity and honesty…Confident people do not mind serving as a cautionary tale.” Certainly, you and I embrace these qualities not to become more confident but to be- come more like Christ who gave his life so that we can live. We embrace these qualities to become more like the Lord who was “meek and humble of heart”. Most importantly, we embrace these qualities because we have been commanded to “love one another as I have loved you”. Sometimes, love means allowing the other to shine, admitting that you are wrong, not criticizing another, and living with sincerity and honesty. In the end, if being a “truly confident person” will make me more like Christ then count me in! MASS INTENTIONS FROM THE RECTOR

NEWS & EVENTS

StewardshipStewardshipStewardshipStewardshipStewardshipReflection“But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth...” (John 16:13)

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to help us know and live the truth. To pre-pare ourselves, we need to open our hearts to receive this gift be-fore we can give it. Develop a daily prayer routine. Talk and listen to the Holy Spirit. This is best done in silence, when we can hear His response.

Happy Father’s DayWe extend our wishes for a Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers of our community with the hope that our Heavenly Father will bless each of you!

Second Collection Next WeekendNext week’s second collection will be shared by the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) and the Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC). These two organizations communicate the Gospel by promoting works of justice, edu-cation and the dignity of human life. Your generous donations will give those in poverty the support they need to make lasting changes and will support our local communications needs, such and Catholic TV programming.

Triduum in Honor of Our Lady of Perpetual HelpFr. Dabney will be offering a three day TRIDUUM in preparation for the Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help from Monday, June 24th to Wednesday, June 26th at 5:30 PM each evening. June 24th: “Icon of Love”, June 25th “Praying With the Icon”, June 26th “Behold Your Mother.”

Ministry OpportunityEach Sunday at the 11:00 am mass we celebrate “The Liturgy of the Word for Chil-dren”. The children are dismissed after the opening prayer and we have adult cat-echists who work with the children explaining the Sunday reading in English in a way they can understand, then they return to the church for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. We are in need of adults who are willing to offer time for this wonderful ministry. We will train you and work with you. If you want more information or wish to offer your time, please leave your name and phone number at the front office.

Cathedral Food BankThe Cathedral of the Holy Cross operates a food bank open to all in need on Mon-day, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:00am-3:00pm. Located at 1400 Washington Street, Boston in the lower church facing Msgr. Reynolds Way.

Parking EnforcementAs of May 1st, the parking lot adjacent to the church and parking lot located on St. Alphonsus Street will be monitored. Anyone parking in the lot who is not on church or Mission Grammar business will be towed.

Any car in violation of posted signs or blocking access in/out of the lots will imme-diately be towed at the owner’s expense. The enforcement will be in effect every-day, including weekends. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
