If you are travelling by your own motor vehicle or taxi our address is 118-124 Tukapa Street, Westown, New Plymouth.

Please book into the Hostel before 9pm Monday to Sunday.

Parking is available in front of Barrett Building. Staff car park (free) is located at the back of Hostel.

Accommodation

Taranaki DHB has quiet, clean hostel accommodation on the Taranaki Base Hospital site. The hostel is available for Taranaki DHB staff and students. Rooms come complete with bed, linen, bath towels, wardrobe, drawers, desk, chair and eating utensils.

Costs

Rooms with single beds are $95.00 per week and rooms with double beds are $115.00 per week. Costs are subject to change.

Shared Facilities

• Kitchen - basic items such as pots, frying pans, toasters, electric jugs and microwaves are provided. Each kitchen has a fridge and freezer. Milk, coffee and tea are also provided.

• Lounge/Dining Room - each has a tv, dvd player and daily newspaper.

• Laundry/Ironing Room - washing machines and dryers are coin operated and cost $2 per load.

• Telephones - there is a telephone in the foyer on each floor. Local calls are free.

• Computers - a computer is located on the bottom floor of the hostel. Wireless internet access is available in the hostel. Prepaid vouchers can be purchased from the hostel office.

• Mail - residents’ mail and parcels are delivered to the hostel.

Cleaning

Rooms are only cleaned before new guests arrive. A vacuum cleaner is kept in the fire hose cupboard in each corridor for guests to use. Cleaning of the staff hostel (except bedrooms) is carried out each week day.

About Taranaki DHB

Taranaki DHB serves a population of approximately 105,000 people. There are two hospitals in New Plymouth and Hawera offering a wide range of services with a total of approximately 278 beds.

The hospital has a café on the ground floor of Base Hospital. It is open from 6.30am-6.30pm daily.

Inner City Travel and Airport/Bus depot pick up Service

New Plymouth has a regular inner city bus service. Taxis are available outside the hospital.

If you are arriving from overseas, the Hostel staff offer a free pick up service from the airport.

The closest supermarkets to the hostel are in the city centre not far from Westown.
