SALVATION IN DAILY LIFE This Sunday is the feast of the Holy Family, which comes on the first Sunday after Christmas Day. To-day’s feast celebrates how the humanity of Jesus (including his entire family life) has brought sav-ing significance into the daily rhythms of our hu-man family life. The scriptures offer instruction and encourage-ment on how to share—within our families, parish families, and the wider human family—the love that God shares with us in Jesus. Selections from Sirach, Psalm 128, and Colossians encourage us to reflect divine love and thus find holiness in all our human relationships. The reading from Matthew’s Gospel offers a living example of love in the ac-tions Joseph took to protect his young family from danger and to nurture them within the larger fami-ly of faith of their time.

2020 WALK FOR LIFE

We will have the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Friday, January 3rd, from 9:00am to 9:00pm. Please come and join us for Adoration on this First Friday. We invite you to sign up for an

hour of adoration. The sign-up sheet is on the parish bulletin board in the church hall. Please consider signing up for an hour to ensure we have every hour covered, and hopefully more than one person per hour can come. We will have the celebration of mass at 12:00pm.

Being part of a family is a great blessing, even though sometimes it can be challenging. Nevertheless, it is always great to be encouraged and be supported throughout our lives by those who care about us and have our best interest. As Catholics, we too belong to a spiritual family, the Catholic Church. It is a great blessing to know that we are adopted members of the family of God and be supported spir-itual by our Catholic Church. This weekend we are celebrating the Holy Family of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph and Jesus Christ. They were not perfect, but what made the holy, just like all the other saints was their ability to surrender their wills and lives to God. That is what all of us are called to do: to imitate their examples in our own immediate families and to do our best to follow the will of God in our lives. Let us continue to pray for all our families so that God may bless them, espe-cially those family members that are far from us so that we might grow in the grace of God as the one spiritual family that we are. May God bless all your families and continue to bless our parish family of St. Thomas Aquinas, Fr. Abel

En la Iglesia de Santo Tomás tene-mos la Adoración del Santísimo Sa-cramento el viernes 3 de Enero de 9:00am a 9:00pm. El Santísimo Sacramento estará expuesto en la custodia en el altar para Adoración y oración. Tendremos la celebra-ción de la santa misa a las 12pm en Ingles. Por favor venga y acompá-

ñenos para la Adoración en este primer viernes. Le Invitamos a registrarse para una hora de ado-ración. La hoja de inscripción está en el tablero de anuncios en el salón de la iglesia. Considere inscribirse durante una hora para asegurarse de que tengamos por lo menos un adorador por ho-ra, y si es posible más de una persona por hora.

Ser parte de una familia es una gran bendición, aunque a veces puede ser un desafío. Sin embargo, siempre es bueno ser alentado y apoyado durante toda nuestra vida por quienes se preocupan por nosotros y tienen nuestro mejor interés. Como católicos, nosotros también pertenecemos a una fami-lia espiritual, la Iglesia Católica. Es una gran bendición saber que somos miembros adoptivos de la familia de Dios y que nuestra Iglesia Católica nos apoya espiritualmente. Este fin de semana celebra-mos la Sagrada Familia de la Bienaventurada Virgen María, San José y Jesucristo. No fueron perfec-tos, pero lo que los hizo santos, al igual que todos los demás santos, fue su capacidad de entregar su voluntad y sus vidas a Dios. Eso es lo que todos estamos llamados a hacer: imitar sus ejemplos en nuestra propia familia inmediata y hacer todo lo posible para seguir la voluntad de Dios en nuestras vidas. Sigamos orando por todas nuestras familias para que Dios los bendiga, especialmente aquellos miembros de la familia que están lejos de nosotros para que podamos crecer en la gracia de Dios co-mo la única familia espiritual que somos.

Se levantó José, tomó al niño y a su madre y re-gresó a tierra de Israel. Pero, habiendo oído de-cir que Arquelao reinaba en Judea en lugar de su padre, Herodes, tuvo miedo de ir allá, y adverti-do en sueños, se retiró a Galilea y se fue a vivir en una población llamada Nazaret. Así se cum-plió lo que habían dicho los profetas: Se le llama-rá nazareno.
