Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe November 25, 2018

“Jesus Christ is the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth. In Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood, who has made us into a kingdom of priests for His God and Father, to Him be glory and power forever. Amen.”

On the day of our bap sm when the minister took the holy chrism and anointed our foreheads we were told that now we share with Jesus in the threefold role of priest, prophet and king. The name Christ means the anointed one. We o en refer to bap sm by another name ‘christening.’

As we bring the church year to a close, we pledge our loyalty to Jesus Christ, and dedicate ourselves to build the kingdom of Jesus Christ. The many parables taught by Jesus described His kingdom, the church. Many told us of the hidden treasure, as well as the weeds and the wheat. The kingdom of Jesus finds good and bad, strengths and weaknesses, but it’s the kingdom of the Lord and we are part of it. Let us build the kingdom of God, as He wishes it to be. May we pray, ‘thy kingdom come’ with new awareness and deep devo on.

En el día de nuestro bau smo, cuando el ministro tomó el santo crisma y ungió nuestras frentes, se nos dijo que compar mos con Jesús el triple papel de sacerdote, profeta y rey. El nombre de Cristo significa ‘ungido’. A menudo nos referimos al bau smo como acris anar.

Al llegar al final del año eclesiás co, prometemos lealtad a Jesucristo, y nos dedicamos a construir su reino. Las muchas parabolas que Jesús enseñó describieron Su reino, la iglesia. Muchas nos hablaron del tesoro escondido, así como de mala hierba y trigo. El reino de Jesús se encuentra lo bueno y lo malo, fortaleza y debilidad, pero es el reino del Señor y somos parte de él. Ojalá que podamos construir el reino de Dios, tal como El lo desea. Que oremos ‘Vénganos tu Reino’ con nueva conciencia y profunda devoción.

People of every language will serve this one, and his leadership and community will be his forever. Second Reading: Revelation 1:5-8 Jesus is so powerful, he is the ruler of kings. He loved us enough to free us from sin, and so he will be glorified forever. He will appear again and be seen by all the people of the earth. God calls himself the first and last, "the One who is and who was and who is to come," reminding all people that God will remain with us always. Gospel: John 18:33b-37 Pilate asks Jesus if he is a king. Jesus explains that his kingdom is not of this world. Pilate asks again if Jesus is a king, to which he replies, "I came into the world to testify to the truth. Anyone committed to the truth hears my voice.”

GABRIEL PROJECT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Gabriel Project assists needy women and women in crisis pregnancies. Female volunteers (especially bilingual Spanish-speaking) are needed to stay in touch with client mothers via phone or email during pregnancy, bringing them needed items such as diapers, baby clothes, etc. (provided by Gabriel Project), and praying for them. The average me commitment is 1-4 hours per month. ALSO NEEDED: Male volunteers to pick up dona ons 1-2 mes per month, daily prayer supporters, and dona ons of diapers, formula, and baby clothes.
