that ended up with everyone getting a little wet!
Gethsemane Prayer Chapel
If you are struggling in any way, take some time to seek guidance from God. Visit our
Gethsemane Prayer Chapel. At Gethsemane Jesus found the strength to fulfill His mission.
The same can be true for us.

“Stewardship is a spiritual way of life that defines who we are in relationship to God
And everyone and everything we ever encounter”. Stewardship – September 26, 2021 – 26th Sunday of the Year
The Pastor’s Corner September 26th, 2021- 26th Sunday of the Year
“Take Joy in the Good Deeds of Others”
Dear Folks, Today in our readings we are presented with the classic temptation of the righteous to become self -
righteous when they begin to envy the righteous deeds of others. In the reading from Numbers, a man was jealous of the prophetic good works of two others. In the Gospel, John attempted to prevent another from successfully driving out a demon in Jesus’ name. Jesus responded by calling for His followers to humbly examine themselves. He challenges them to purge themselves of the temptations to judge others. He emphasizes His point by charging them to “cut off” their hands and feet and “pluck out” their eyes if they lead them into sin. Jesus is urging them to “be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matt 5, 48)
In our time of exaggerated self-interest and heightened opinions, there is a great deal of finger-pointing at
the words and deeds of others and not enough repenting about one’s own faults and failings. There’s the saying “When you point one finger, there are three fingers pointing back to you.” If we truly want to be holy and right-eous we must rid ourselves of envy and jealousy. Instead, we should rejoice in the good deeds and fortunes of oth-ers. Their good deeds should challenge and inspire us to follow their example.
Fr. Steve
Goins On Rebooting the PC – A group of parishioners will be meeting with myself this week to restart St. Rose’s Pastoral Council. The purpose of the council is to shape the long-term vision of our ministry as a parish. Post pandemic when all have returned to church, we will have elections to complement the appointed positions on the council
St. James warns us about accepting the standards of the world and assuming that what is normative in society needs no
countercultural challenge. The temptation to hoard riches and make sharp bargains at the expense of the powerless is pervasive
because these things are generally done and look respectable enough. St. James points to God’s judgment on these attitudes and
actions of amassing wealth and comfort at the expense of others. How might we be better stewards of the material blessings we have
been given? How might we use our wealth with compassion toward others?
Our inherited Catholic Legacy is what our Catholic forebears have done for us.
Our stewardship is the means by which we will hand on our Catholic Legacy to those who will follow after us.”
“You were sick and I cared for you”… Someone who is ill or in need of support is
welcome to receive a hand-made prayer shawl. St. Rose Prayer Shawl Ministry members have put their shawls on display in the back of church so a parishioner can bring a prayer shawl to someone in need. Please leave the name of the person for whom
you are giving the prayer shawl on the clipboard as well as the number of the prayer shawl. THE PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY MEMBERS WILL BE PRAYING FOR
EVERYONE WHO HAS RECEIVED A PRAYER SHAWL.
The Greatest Stories Ever Told – Healing From Trauma & Abuse
Sharing our story is a grace-filled act that benefits the giver and recipient. These gifts include: Discovering that we are not alone Healing and freedom from trauma and abuse Forgiveness and reconciliation Empowering others to share their story Conversion of faith Finding God’s healing love in our lives
Telling our stories of trauma and abuse is not about placing blame. It is about opening ourselves up to hope,
understanding, and compassion. We are reminded that we are all sinners on a quest for holiness.
Sunday, October 10 – 6:30 – 8:30 pm
The program will begin with a video presentation of the story of Holocaust survivor Eva Kor and
her journey of healing and forgiveness.
There is no cost to participate, but registration is required.
