We make prayer shawls, lap blankets, and baby blankets that are distributed to the Veterans

BALANCE Today’s scriptures emphasize the fundamental link between love of God and love of our neighbors, especially those who are most in need. Love of God should compel us to love the people whom God cherishes. Conversely, work for justice and charity for those in need should be rooted in our love of God. That connection and balance, however, isn’t always easy to maintain in our lives. Even in religious orders we find that some Christians are more oriented toward contemplation and prayer, while others are more active in reaching out to those who are oppressed. Today Jesus reminds us of the necessity for both in the life of faith.

SHARING FRANCISCAN SPIRITUALITY - BY SR. JO.

The scripture readings this weekend call us to deeper relationships of love ~ love for God, ourselves, and our neighbors. This loving bond transforms our care for one another and for the strangers in our midst. We cannot claim to love God if we shun or ignore others, especially

those who are most vulnerable. Certainly, the Feast of All Saints and Commemoration of All Souls later this week also remind us of the sacred ties between heaven and earth. So, let us make loving choices on behalf of all our brothers and sisters as one united family through Christ.

God our Father, Creator of the Universe and Lord over all creation, we humbly stand before you as your children in thanksgiving for your loving care and protection. We ask that you keep us safe from all hurricanes which may threaten us in the coming seasons. Protect us from all fear and anxiety of storms

and give us an ardent trust and hope in your love and mercy. You alone have the power to command the sea, the wind and the rain. You alone bring peace, calm, and safety. Father, we thank you in advance for you are our only refuge. We ask this through Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

It is with great joy that we invite you to consider your son or daughter as an altar server at Saint Rose of Lima’s. The Altar Server is an integral part of the Holy Liturgy. This is indeed a special calling to serve at the Altar of the Lord while assisting the priests. The altar server depends on your support as they rely on you their parents to bring them to Mass.

We will have a special training on December 2, 2017 from 9:00-11:30 am, which allows the altar server a reassurance on the expectation he or she will conduct at the Lord’s altar. Please complete an application form or contact us if you believe your son or daughter wants to be an altar server. Please return the completed form to Fr. Rolón at the School or Parish Office.

THE TIME IS RIGHT NOW

School activities will start soon! Please do not wait for the last minute to find out that you cannot participate in you child’s (ren) activities because you are not in compliance with the Archdiocese of Miami requirements Virtus training and background check-fingerprints. These requirements are also for any family members attending any of the activities, for example, grandparents, uncles-aunts, nannies, cousins, to name a few. If you are not sure about your status with these two requirements, please contact Mrs. Carmen Matos-Raia at (305) 751-4257, or by email at [email protected], this is the fastest way to reach me. You should be able to log in your own Virtus

account and see what your status is. Every volunteer needs to be current in reading the monthly bulletins and have a background check, fingerprints current every five years.

The annual Mass for deceased members of the Legion of Mary will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at 8:15 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima. A group Rosary will be said before the Mass and there will be a reception afterwards in the Kiosk area.

Everyone is invited, and most especially our auxiliary members, whose prayers give wings to Our Lady’s work, as well all the relatives of the deceased active and auxiliary members.
