Transcript of S&T Pair up suckaz 070417
Consistent, unified design systems make our lives easier.
But we have our own voices, styles and approaches.
It’s hard to believe I know, but sometimes we don’t agree.
DESIGNERS ARE PEOPLE
In the way that work - feature by feature, story by story - it can be hard to maintain consistency in design thinking.
Valid ideas never get the chance to be considered as a route has already been chosen by whoever is implementing the story.
EL PROBLEMO
15 minutes max
Sketch as many ideas as possible
Quantity not quality (of output)
Edit ideas afterwards not during
THE DEAL
THE RESULT
Collaborative thinking that unlocks solutions we might not have come to on our own.
It also shines a spotlight on potential points of disagreement at an early stage. No more getting to review and realising we
were on different pages all along.
new newest design final FINAL! FINAL? v273 revision update 180516 is this really the right one? I’m not sure of anything anymore. Please help me someone

The design team have…
A new tool in private alpha built by people sick of overwriting each other’s designs, corrupting files by opening them on two machines at once and not knowing which version is the final
final final.
It’s built on a customised version of GIT so we can start to bring our design workflow in line with the dev one.
ABSTRACT
• Does what it says on the tin - versions design files
• Visual record of changes with accompanying notes and history
• Pretty robust even for an alpha
• Simple but effective review tools built in to Abstract
PROS
• Doesn’t store files locally
• Files have to be opened via Abstract to get the versioning
• Web app is non-functional at the mo
• Mac only
• Sketch only
CONS
More pairing, earlier on in the process
Bring our previous designs into Abstract
Document/codify the system so everyone* can work with it
Ensure we make the ‘final’ files available outside of Abstract
Keep pushing for a cross-platform solution
WHAT’S NEXT?
*everyone on a Mac anyway
