Graduaon is an annual rite of passage. Students
gather to receive their degrees, accept accolades
and honors, say good-bye to friends and teachers
and then move on to the next chapter of their life.
There may be some anxiety or uncertainty, but the
overall mood of the day is one of pride,
accomplishment and excitement. One phase ends
and another one begins as the cycle of life connues
and a new chapter is wri en.
Jesus closes one chapter of the Apostle’s lives and
opens another. He reassures them that what they
see before them is real and He is truly present. He
opens their minds to understand the Scriptures and
then tells them what is ahead. They will preach the
Gospel to all people, beginning at Jerusalem and
extending to all the naons. The Apostles will
connue the mission of Jesus as they teach, preach,
heal and forgive.
Faith is more than just a nice idea, so we need to act
on it. Our lives are a witness to the work of Christ.
If grace is real, if love is true and if faith makes a
difference, others should see and noce.
Conversion of souls is accomplished through the
bold deeds and acons of those who follow the
Lord. We preach, teach, heal and forgive by what
we do more than by what we say. What have you
done lately to create your new chapter of faith?
— James Gaffney

Funeral Masses were offered recently for Juan Perez, Josephine M. Otis, and Thomas L. Sargeant, Jr.
Kindly remember them and their families in your prayers. Thank you.
Most Catholics can quickly tell you that the Month of May is dedicated to the Blessed Mother. And, of course, the Month of November is traditionally
observed as the Month of All Souls. But what about the Month of April? In case you weren’t sure, the Month of April is dedicated to the devotion of the Holy Eucharist. Why? Holy Thursday (the day on which we celebrate Christ’s institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper ) is more often than not observed in the Month of April. As Catholics, we believe that the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ in the sacrament of the altar (Catholics define this change as transubstantiation). Other Christians, especially the Eastern Orthodox, along with some Anglicans and Lutherans, believe as we Catholics do in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. However, only the Catholic Church has developed the practice of Eucharistic adoration. Every Catholic Church contains a tabernacle in which the Body of Christ is reserved between Masses. The faithful are encouraged to come and pray before the Blessed Sacrament. Frequent prayer before the Holy Eucharist is a great path to spiritual growth. This month, why not make a special effort to spend some time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament? It doesn't need to be long or elaborate: You can start simply by making the Sign of the Cross and uttering a short profession of faith, such as "My Lord and my God!" as you pass a Catholic church. If you have the time to stop for five minutes, all the better! And while you’re at it, please say a special prayer for the 83 children of our parish who will be receiving their First Communion in early May. Ask the Lord to bless these children (and their families) as they prepare for this most special moment in their lives. Pray that they will always stay close to the Lord Jesus by frequent and regular reception of this Most Blessed Sacrament. Thanks! God bless!

CREATING SAFE ENVIRONMENTS Background screening is a tool the Church uses to enhance the safety of our children, youth, elderly and the disabled. Carrying out background checks on those who minister enables us to live up to our commitment and responsibility to
provide a safe environment for those whom we serve. In keeping with the policy of the Boston Archdiocese, St. Margaret Parish requires all parish staff and volunteers to apply annually for a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) report . Lectors, Ministers of Communion, Ushers, Sacristans, etc. can complete a CORI form by visiting the sacristy this weekend after all Masses. Note that identification (for example, driver’s license) will be required. Volunteers may also complete a CORI form at the Parish Office (Monday-Friday from 10:00 am–3:00 pm).
For up-to-date parish news, check out our website at...

CARDINAL TO VISIT PARISH A St. Andrew’s Dinner, hosted by the Archdiocesan Vocations Office, will take place on Tuesday, April 28 in the St. Margaret’s Parish Hall from 6:00-8:00 pm. The dinner provides an opportunity for young men of high school age and older to hear the Cardinal and seminarians share their vocation stories in a “no pressure” atmosphere that invites discussion and dialogue. Those interested in attending should contact Father Silva, Father Jiwon or the Parish Office (781-272-3111) for additional details.
