November Newsletter 2016
Loving God, teach us to be people of peace.
Teach us to love one another that there may be
peace in our families. Teach us to strengthen
one another, that there may be peace in our
school. Teach us to live and work justly, that
there may be peace in our city. Teach us to give
equal respect and opportunity, that there may
be peace in our nation. Teach us to be
peacemakers in all that we do. Amen
The month of November marks a special
occasion for all of us to take time from our busy
schedules to remember the men and women
who have given so much of themselves to
ensure our safety and freedom. As we
remember the many sacrifices made for our
freedom this month, please continue to pray for
peace in our world .
In order to ensure the safety of all of our
students, we ask that ALL parents and visitors
please report to the office upon arrival. If you
wish to speak with your child, we will call them
down to the office.

Planning to Take a Vacation?
We would like to congratulate the Intermediate Football team on a successful tournament. Our athletes won 6 games, 2 ties, and had only 1 loss. They displayed great Scottie spirit both on and off the field. Big thanks to our coach, Mr. Martins!
Every year, we create a School Improvement Plan. We look at data from many sources and fine tune an area of “Urgent Need” or Problem of Practice. This year, St. Margaret’s staff is committed to the following area of Numeracy, as our Urgent Need: Algebraic Reasoning: Through regular and ongoing Number Sense Routines, students will be able to build their knowledge of Algebraic Reasoning, and confidently apply these skills.

P.A.Day
Friday, November 18th is a
Professional Activity Day. There will
be NO SCHOOL that day.
November Theme: Being Responsible
and a Collaborative Contributor
Wow! Our Grade One friends
are experiencing the Chrome
books for the
first time with
their Grade Seven learning
buddies! With the help of
their buddies, the Grade
Ones are creating a four
slide Science Power Point
presentation explaining the
changes that happen to plants or animals
during each of the four seasons. Keep up the
great work!
The grade 1/2s
have been
learning about
patterns. They are
creating Pattern
Pumpkins! Grade
1s are creating
repeating patterns; grade 2s are creating
repeating, growing and shrinking patterns.
A few weeks ago, we did the Terry Fox Run. Here
are the grade 2/3 students showing how many
laps they did on the Terry Fox Run. The next step
was to estimate how many laps our whole class
did. We did 609. An average of about 31 laps per
student.
The Grade 2/3
students were
also developing
a graphic
organizer
collaboratively
to plan a
Halloween
story.
