Ingredients Needed To Make Resurrection Rolls:

Canned Crescent Rolls 3 Tbs of Butter Small bowl of Cinnamon/Sugar

Mixture (3 Tbs sugar + 1 Tbs cinnamon)

8 Large Marshmallows (or the number of crescent rolls you have)Parchment Paper or aluminum foil How To Make Resurrection Rolls: Before beginning, melt your butter,

preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Also, cover your pan in parchment paper or aluminum foil.

Tell your children something like this :

“Jesus was completely perfect and pure. He never sinned or did anything wrong. Even so, there were some people who didn’t like Him because He said He

Respect Life

was God. They crucified Him, and He died on the cross on Good Friday. It was very sad. A man named Joseph took His body down from the cross.”

Give them each a marshmallow. Then tell them: “This marshmallow represents the body of Jesus. It is white because Jesus was pure from sin. Back during Jesus’ time, they prepared bodies for burial by putting special oils and spices on the body. The butter and the cinnamon-sugar represent these oils and spices.”

Have them dip the marshmallow first in the melted butter, and roll it around. Then, roll it in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

“Next, they wrapped Jesus’ body in a white cloth, kinda like a mummy. We’re going to wrap up our marshmallows like Jesus’ body was wrapped in cloth.”

Place the marshmallows on the crescent rolls, and wrap them up. Pinch all the seams shut as well as possible.

They will look like dough balls when you’re finished.

Now, place your rolls in the oven, and tell your kids:

“Then, they placed Jesus’ body in a tomb cut in stone. It was kind of like a cave. They sealed it with a big heavy rock so that no one could get in, and placed soldiers in front of the tomb to guard it!”

Bake the rolls for 10 to 12 minutes until they are golden brown. Before removing them from the oven, tell your kids:

“Jesus was in the tomb for 3 days, and then he rose from the dead!”

Remove the resurrection rolls from your oven. Some of the melted marshmallow probably escaped, but that’s ok, because you used parchment paper.

Allow the rolls to cool for about 10 minutes before moving on.

Now, you cut the roll in half to reveal that it’s empty inside! Then you tell your kids:

“When Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, the tomb was empty, just like our rolls are empty inside! It’s just like an empty tomb!”

Now, eat your resurrection rolls! Tell your kids: “These rolls are sweet, just like the resurrection story! Jesus died to save us from our sins. He loves you very much!”

“From the beginning, the living Tradition of the Church—as shown by the Didache, the most ancient non-biblical Christian writing—categorically repeated the commandment ‘You shall not kill’: ‘There are two ways, a way of life and a way of death; there is a great difference between them. ...In accordance with the precept of the teaching: you shall not kill...you shall not put a child to death by abortion nor kill it once it is born...The way of death is this: ...they show no compassion for the poor, they do not suffer with the suffering, they do not acknowledge their creator, they kill their children and by abortion cause God’s creatures to perish; they drive away the needy, oppress the suffering, they are advocates of the rich and unjust judges of the poor; they are filled with every sin. May you be able to stay ever apart, O children, from all these sins!’” — quoted in Pope John Paul II, The Gospel of Life, no. 54

From our Holy Father

in Rome Pope Francis

“The family, blessed by God from the beginning and entrusted

with the task of procreation, is meant to be a community of life and love in the heart of society. “

Dear Brothers and Sisters: Today’s solemnity of the Annunciation invites us, in the context of the Church’s preparation for the forthcoming Synod on the Family, to consider the relationship between the Incarnation and the mission of the family. In God’s plan, Jesus was welcomed into, and grew up in, a true human family, that of Mary and Joseph.

Today also marks the Day for Life, in which we once more reaffirm our respect for the inviolable dignity of every human life. The family, blessed by God from the beginning and entrusted with the task of procreation, is meant to be a community of life and love in the heart of society. Here we see how closely linked are the Church and the family.

The Church is called to accompany and support all families, especially those in greatest need. I ask you to continue praying for the Synod, so that it will reflect the compassion of the Good Shepherd for his flock and help the Church to be ever more committed and clear in her witness to the truth of God’s merciful love for all families.

Parish Stewardship — a way of life

By: Bertha Malfavon

It isn’t often that we have both husband and wife who have served on our Pastoral Council, but in the past ten years both Robert and Diana Poncini have served in this way. Diana currently serves on our Pastoral Council and is a wonderful voice for our parish families. Some years ago, Robert worked in the parish as our Youth Minister, where he inspired many of our now-young adults to live and love our faith.

Some of Robert’s gifts in sharing the faith were formed during earlier years, when he was a seminarian student. Even though they are both very committed to their careers (Robert is an Aflac district manager) and family (Diana homeschools Isabella and Stephen) they always make sure that their faith is not just a “Sunday thing.” Both answered “yes” when Fr. Mark recently asked them to consider leading our “Good Friday Live Stations of the Cross” production.

Many of our parishioners enjoy this excellent live drama and music production, but it takes committed adult leaders like Robert and Diana, to spend the hours with our youth and young adult participants. Thank you, Robert and Diana, for carefully stewarding your gifts of service for our parish community.

Robert and Diana Poncini

This group of homeschooling parents and children offers field trips, gatherings,

co-operative classes, and support for those currently homeschooling. We are having an Information Night

to answer questions. Join us on Wednesday, April 15, at 7:30 PM

Este año, nuestro tema p a r r o q u i a l e s , “ T o d o s e s t á n Llamados.”

CORRESPONSABILIDAD (STEWARDSHIP)

Por: Bertha Malfavon

Leer, Meditar, Orar y Vivir

Robert and Diana Poncini

¡VIVA CRISTO RESUCITADO!
