All of them came from very worthy causes. As it gets close to the end of the year, I expect I will receive more let- ters each day asking for donations. Even in our bulletin today, there are four requests for donations. If you are like me, whenever you receive these requests you want to help. Whose heart is not touched by the needs of people around us? But the needs of people will always outpace the money I am able to share. The words of this poem say it well: LOAVES AND FISHES I always joked that the miracle of loaves and fish was sharing. The women always knew this, but in this moment of need and notoriety I ache, tremble, almost weep that folks so hungry, malnourished, faced with spiritual famine of epic proportions. My heart aches with their need. Apostle-like I whine “What are we among so many.” The consistent two thousand year old every new response is this: “Blessed and broken, you are enough” I savor at the blessed, cower at the broken and pray to be enough. While there are many worthy causes that seek our help, none of us is expected to give to every request for money. What to do? I think we choose the causes that speak to our heart. And then we offer what we can, re- membering the words of St. Paul to the Co- rinthians: “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don't give re- luctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” Leaning into the journey of life, Fr. Gene Schroeder REMEMBERING OUR LOVED ONES AT MASS... You are invited and encouraged to submit names of loved ones so that they can be included in the Mass intentions listed in the bulletin each week.
