Eucharistic Adoration The best form of prayer after the Holy Sacrifice of the

Mass is Eucharistic Adoration which our parish makes

available each Tuesday from 8:30am-7:00pm. Adoration

is a great opportunity for us to rest in the presence of our Lord,

who is physically present in the host in the monstrance on the

altar. Spending time in the presence of Our Lord can change

your life and the lives of those you pray for!

Dynamic Catholic, Alive! Evangelization

How quick the first disciples were to follow Jesus! They imme-

diately recognized Him as the Lamb of God and followed Him

to where He was staying. How quickly do we go to the church

or the chapel for Mass and prayer, to encounter the Lamb of

God? In order for us to be effective evangelists, we must nour-

ish our own spiritual life and know the One whom we are called

to share with others. This week, take some time to nourish your

spiritual life and focus on encountering the Lord anew so that

you can share Him with conviction in your thoughts, words,

and actions.

Today, the church celebrates the Second Sunday of Ordinary

Time. The name of this season does not mean that it is unim-

portant time. Rather, it is derived from the word, “Ordo” which

in its various forms means ordered or counted because it con-

sists of the counted Sundays of the year. During Ordinary Time,

the Lectionary readings tend to focus less on specific doctrinal

issues or mysteries of salvation history and more on how one is

to live as a disciple of Christ. The first lesson in this course on

discipleship comes today as we reflect on how we hear the call

of God in our lives. Samuel is presented, in the first reading, as

one who hears God call for the first time and seeks to respond

with openness and obedience. Because of the obedience with

which Samuel accepted God’s word, the Lord never permitted

Samuel’s words to be without effect. What kind of reception

does God’s call receive in my life? How well do I hear the word

of God? The question that Jesus asked the two disciples of John

who went after Him is also a question that He asks us today.

What is it that I am looking for? What kind of messiah am I

searching for? Paul reminds us, in the second reading, that our

actions have importance. God cares about how I act and what I

do because He calls me to make Jesus Lord of all of it.

Stewardship Awareness “Jesus turned and saw them following Him and said to them, ‘What are you looking for?’” John 1:38 What are you looking for? Are you wasting your time looking for the material comforts of the world? Or, is your heart longing for something deeper that can only be found by spending time with God? Take time, each day, in silence and ask the Lord what it is that He wants you to do.

9 Days for Life: January 18-26 January 22 marks the 45th Anniversary of Roe v.

Wade, a Supreme Court case decision that legalized

abortion. This Anniversary is a reminder of the importance to

pray for an end to abortion and for a greater respect for life at

all stages. 9 Days for Life is a “digital pilgrimage” of prayer

and action focused on cherishing the gift of every person’s life.

A multi-faceted novena highlighting a different intention each

day provides reflections, bonus information, and suggested ac-

tions. Sign up to receive the novena through a free app, daily

emails, or daily text messages. Visit www.9daysforlife.com for

more information.

The generosity, support and prayers of this community are

amazing! If it wasn’t for all the prayers from all of you, Jill

could have never recovered the way she has. She is now off all

life support and this week they will be moving her to a long-

term acute care facility to start her respitory, speech and physi-

cal rehab. Please continue the prayers for the long road ahead

with months of rehab and then another surgery once she builds

her strength back in a few months. Thank you and God bless

you all!
