FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT
My Dearest Brothers and Sisters in the Good God,
Reconciliation Monday is March 26th. In every parish of
the Archdiocese of New York (which is the ten counties of Ulster,
Sullivan, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester,
Bronx, New York or Manhattan, and Richmond or Staten Island),
and the Dioceses of Brooklyn and Rockville Center (the four
counties of Long Island: Kings or Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and
Suffolk), there will be at least one priest hearing Confessions from
3:00 until 9:00 P.M. that mid-afternoon to late evening.
Also, more locally, this coming Wednesday, March 21st,
starting at 7:30 P.M., several priests, including yours truly, will be
hearing Confessions as part of a Lenten Penance Service at Saint
Mary of the Snow Church in the Village of Saugerties. Please take
care of the soul God has given to each one of you by going to the
Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation at either or both of these
opportunities for individual Confessions.
All-Day Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament is this
Sunday, March 18th, from the conclusion of the 10:30 A.M. Holy
Mass until Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament at 8:30
P.M. Please try to spend a little time adoring Our Lord Who is
Truly Present in the Holy Eucharist; He waits for us to visit Him
because He is really there.
This Sunday morning, March 18th, the Monthly Holy
Mass in the Spanish language will be offered at Saint Mary of the
Snow Church in the Village of Saugerties.
The Stations of the Cross will be conducted this Friday
evening, March 23rd, by Deacon Bob starting at 7:00 P.M. in the
Church.
Holy Week begins next weekend with the celebration of
Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord at all three of our Holy
Masses. The Simple Entrance will be at the 5:00 P.M. Holy Mass
on Saturday, March 24th and at the 8:30 A.M. Holy Mass on
Sunday, March 25th. God willing, at the start of the 10:30 A.M.
Holy Mass, we will process outdoors. I want to thank, in advance,
the Saugerties police for making it possible to process along the
part of Route 212 that is in the front of the Church property.
Please take home a copy of the little pamphlets that are
on the tables at the entrances of the Church so that you will know
our Holy Week schedule. Please plan to spend as much time as
you can in partaking in the special Holy Week liturgies. Holy
Week is the most solemn time of the whole year for the Church
and I most cordially invite you and anyone you know to
participate in it.
I will be hearing Confessions for the 3rd Grade children
this Monday, March 19th, during Religious Education (Faith
Formation) time.
Please note that the Season of Spring begins with the
Vernal Equinox this Tuesday, March 20th. May the remaining
portion of the Lenten Season, which concludes at 4:00 P.M. on
Holy Thursday, be spiritually productive for everyone.
REMEMBER THAT OUR ANNUAL CELEBRATION
OF THE SEDER (PASSOVER MEAL), is Wednesday, March
28th, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Please reserve your seats before the
deadline of March 23rd.
May you have a good rest of Lent.
Yours truly,
Father Bill Woodruff.
PILGRIM VISITS TO SEVEN CATHOLIC CHURCHES– In
Dutchess and Ulster Counties on Holy Thursday. A
recommended practice for Lent is to make a pilgrimage. A
Pilgrim Pamphlet Guide will be made available on the Fifth
Sunday of Lent and on Palm Sunday for those who wish to
participate in the venerable custom of ‘visiting seven churches’
on Maundy (Holy) Thursday, March 29th for prayer, reflection,
and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The evening Mass time
at each church, as well as the location of the Altar of Repose, and
closing time are listed in the pamphlet. Also included are Pope
Francis’ prayer intentions for March, and suggested scriptural
verses to be prayed at each stop. Pilgrims normally set out after
attending the evening Mass of The Lord’s Supper at their home
parish; they continue on the self-directed pilgrimage to visit six
additional decorated Altars of Repose.
2018 BIBLE STUDY PROGRAM– Will take place at the
Immaculate Conception School, 471 Delaware Avenue, Kingston.

MAKING ALL THINGS NEW
God our Father, through the Gospel and the Eucharist,
You bring us together as Your Church in the
Archdiocese of New York.
Send us Your Holy Spirit, to enlighten our minds and guide our actions
as we plan for the future of parish life in this Archdiocese.
Help us learn new ways to strengthen and revitalize our parish
communities, and to be good stewards of the spiritual and material gifts
that sustain them.
Bless our work, so that our parishes may continue to witness to the truth
of the Gospel, and be a sign of Your love for all people.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

SYMPTOMS OF INNER PEACE
* A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than on fears
based on past experiences.
* An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.
* A loss of interest in judging other people.
* A loss of interest in judging self.
* A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others.
* A loss of interest in conflict.
* A loss of ability to worry (this is a very serious symptom).
* Frequent overwhelming episodes of appreciation.
* Contented feelings of connectedness with others and nature.
* Frequent attacks of smiling.
* An increasing tendency to let things happen rather than make
them happen.
* An increased susceptibility to the love extended by others as
well as the uncontrollable urge to extend it.

JOKE– A friend and I were driving in the country looking for
an address. We found the town, but we couldn’t locate the
road. We drove to the police station. They’d never heard of
the road. Neither had the Fire Department. We went to City
Hall, where a community get-together was going on. We
consulted a map, with no luck, until finally we happened to ask one
young man who knew exactly where the street was. He pointed to the
map, showing us exactly how to get there. I said, “Thank you. Are you
with the Police? Or the Fire Department? “Neither. I deliver pizzas.”

it dies, it produces much fruit.”
