“BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS: FOR THEY SHALL BE CALLED THE CHILDREN OF GOD.”

Page 3: The seventh beatitude

Peacemakers not only live peaceful

lives but also try to bring peace and

friendship to others, and to preserve

peace between God and man.

WHO IS THE PEACEMAKER?A peacemaker is a man who brings peace to another; but one cannot give another what one does not possess oneself. Hence the Lord

wants you first to be yourself filled with the blessings of peace and then to communicate it to those who have

need of it.

ST. ISAAC JOGUESIn 1636, he was sent to Quebec, Canada, as

a missionary to the Huron Indians. He was captured, tortured and imprisoned. But he prayed for his captors. He even baptized some of them

In 1643, he was rescued and was returned to France. When the spring came he decided to go back to Quebec for a peace mission to his torturers.

ST. ISAAC JOGUESIn 1646, on his way to

Ossernenon, he was captured by a tribe that was very cruel to him. He prayed for his captors. Later on, his captors killed him because of putting the Sign of the Cross in children’s forehead.

HOW TO MANIFEST THE BEATITUDE?

We can bring peace to others by forgiving them when they hurt us, by being kind to them, and by showing love to them.

HOW TO MANIFEST THE BEATITUDE?

We offer a sign of peace to let people know that we’ve forgiven them for anything they may have done against us.

become children of

God.
