called to grow in love, spirituality and unity. Through God’s grace and the effort of all, we

The light over the little town of Bethlehem has revealed the light of the world to the ends of the earth. Year of the Domestic Church: Throughout histo-ry, God has spoken to man. He spoke through Abraham, Moses and the prophets. God’s Word became flesh in Jesus, and he continues to

speak to us today through Scripture and the Tradition of the Church. God also speaks to each person through his or her vocation in life. Each person has a vocational calling. A per-son’s vocation is the way in which he or she grows in holiness through service of God. Some people are called to marriage while others are called to the priesthood or reli-gious life. Some people serve God in their single state of life. Regardless of a person’s vocational calling, all of the faithful are called to serve God in charity and faithful-ness. In his apostolic exhortation Ecclesia in America Pope John Paul II said: “The word of God, faithfully read in the family, gradual-ly builds it up as a domestic church and makes it fruitful in human and Christian virtues; it is there that the source of voca-tions is to be found.” By remaining close to God’s word in the Scriptures, families are able to help each other discern God’s voice in their lives. In this way, families can support and nurture the vocation of its members as they help each other lead holy lives. What is a way that your family can share the Scriptures with each other? How can you support each family member’s vocation?

Año de la Iglesia Domesti-ca: A lo largo de la histo-ria, Dios ha hablado al hombre. Él hablo a través de Abraham, Moisés y los profetas. La palabra de Dios se convirtió en carne en Jesús, y Él continua

En su exhortación apostólica Ecclesia en America, el Papa Juan Pablo II dijo; “La pa-labra de Dios, leída fielmente en la familia, la construye gradualmente como una iglesia domestica y la hace fructífera en virtudes humanas y Cristianas; es ahí donde se en-cuentra la fuente de las vocaciones”. Al permanecer cerca de la palabra de Dios en la Escrituras, los miembros de la familia pueden ayudarse mutuamente a discernir la voz de Dios en sus propias vidas. De esta manera, las familias pueden apoyar y nutrir la vocación de sus miembros mientras se ayudan mutuamente a llevar vidas santas. ¿Cuál es una manera en la que los miem-bros de su familia pueden compartir las escrituras mutuamente? ¿Cómo puede us-ted apoyar la vocación de cada miembro de su familia?
