From the desk of Father James Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
We gather this weekend, just a few days after the Nativity of the Lord to celebrate another important feast and that is the feast of the Holy Family. This celebration gives us the opportunity to not only celebrate the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, but we also can celebrate our birth families and our Church family.
Each of these three families that we celebrate are truly brought together as one through the birth of the Christ Child. Jesus was brought forth into our world so that He can be the light, the light that sets us free, the light that leads us back to our Father in Heaven.
Our light alone, is not enough to illuminate our paths. We need the light of the Holy Family, our blood families and our Church family. When we all come together as the body of Christ, our light shines brightly and we can see more clearly, the path laid out before us.
Next weekend, here at St. Francis, as we gather for the feast of the Epiphany, we will have the opportunity to reflect upon how we will participate as members of the St. Francis family in 2018.
Included in the bulletin as an insert this week, and one that will be handed out next weekend is a form that I will ask each family to fill out. It will be an opportunity for us as a parish to make sure that we have your updated and current mailing address, phone number, email and so on. There will also be places to show where you want to commit to pray, serve and financially support the parish in 2018. Please be sure to look this form over and fill it out. I will talk about this more on the weekend of January 6 & 7.
I hope that each of you had a blessed Christmas and that you will continued to be filled with Christ’s Love and Joy as we celebrate these holy days of Christmas!
In Christ’s Love,
Fr. James
In the Spirit of St. Francis…
In the Spirit of St. Francis ...THANK YOU!
To all the children who sang in the Christmas choir and participated in the Live Nativity Scene and the 5:00 pm Christmas Eve Mass.
To everyone who stayed after the 10:30 am Mass and helped to set up chairs for the Christmas Masses and all those who help to put them away.
To Willie and Melanie Battilega for all their hard work in getting the church ready for Christmas and all year long.
To Madeleine Clancy for laundering the altar lin-ens for the month of December.

Seniors: make it a priority to take care of your-selves in the New Year
It can be challenging to find the time to take care of ourselves, but for adults, especially those 60 years and older, it is even more vital to stay physi-cally and socially active, so we continue to live independently, have fulfilling relationships and move safely in our surroundings....all neces-sary skills that allow seniors to "age in place".
Strong for Life 2.0 exercise program enriches the lives of participants by creating a free, safe place to exercise regularly and create new friendships. Our goal is to encourage older adults to exer-cise and reap some of the benefits such as: improved balance strength flexibility disease prevention more energy better sleep improved brain function more social connections and support.
We have 3 friendly and encouraging coaches to help you get started in our exercise program. It is designed for all ability levels with accommoda-tions and a variety of intensities to meet different physical needs.
Any senior aged 60 years or older in the communi-ty is welcome. It's a great avenue for meeting oth-er parishioners and making more connections in your church family; all while doing something good for yourself!
Interested? Feel free to contact Jennifer Mirek in the parish office for more information, or simply stop by the South Classroom at 10:00 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to check out the class.

Happy Feast Day of the Holy Family!
"Through the family passes the primary current of the civilization of love. The history of man-kind, the history of salvation, passes by way of the family. The family is the center and the heart of the civilization of love." ~Pope St John Paul II
