OCTOBER 15, 2017 ST. COLUMBANUS CHURCH_ ___ #481/PAGE 4

Thank you, Knights of Columbus for hosting the Annual Oktoberfest Dinner Dance. It was an enjoyable even-ing filled with good food, music, and fellowship. Congratulations to the winners of the Aid to for the Needy Raffle. Thanks to all who took chances in support of the Knights charitable work and to all who attended the dinner dance. The roof of the Martyrs Church will be replaced. Work will begin November 15 and finish the first week of December. After that we will repair or replace the water damaged ceiling in the church itself. We are hopeful that the insurance may cover some of the interior work but the roof will have to be paid for by the parish. If anyone would like to contribute to the work, donations can be made to St. Columbanus Campaign Fund. This fund was established when we put a new roof on the school and any money in this fund can only be used by the parish for the parish. I was recently asked by my classmate, Fr. Luke Sweeney who works for the Vatican, if there was anything he could do for me. I asked if he could get me a relic of a saint or saints connected to the North American Martyrs. I am happy to announce that Fr. Luke came through with flying colors and I am now in possession of a first class relic of St. Kateri Tekakwitha. As soon as I can get a worthy display case for it, it will be enshrined at our “Indian Church.” Please pray for Fr. Sweeney and Fr. Anton Witwer, S.J. who procured the relic for us. I want to thank all who contribute to our parish electronically through ParishPay. ParishPay was sold to Liturgical Publications Inc. (LPI). I received the following information from the Archdiocese: “…LPI has been preparing to transition parishioner data from the ParishPay platform to their WeShare platform. We have been advised that the transition to the WeShare platform will take place during the week of October 9. The transition will take 24 to 72 hours. During that time there will be no access to the ParishPay website. LPI have advised that the technical testing they have completed for this transition has been extensive and suc-cessful. They will also have a fully staffed customer service desk during and after the transition. Contact number is 800-950-9952. Each of your parishioners will be receiving an e-mail from LPI in the next few days advising them of this change and what they need to do. For a majority of parishioners, no action will be re-quired as LPI will transfer the data and there will be no interruption in their planned giving. For those few who actively manage their online giving LPI will provide simple instructions to authenticate their new ac-counts.” Last weekend our music director and cantors sang a beautiful Eucharistic hymn, “Dona Nobis Pacem.” At my Mass last Saturday evening, I heard parishioners singing along. I hope that any parishioner who likes to sing will consider joining the choir and become part of what I know will become an outstanding choir providing sacred music that will raise up our souls to God. Contact me at the rectory if you are interested.

In Jesus and Mary, Fr. Frank Samoylo
