Dear Sisters and Brothers, This weekend we are going to administer the Sacraments to Adults from our RCIA Program, who were preparing over the extent of the last school year. Wayne Goldman and Kathy Fella were working with the English speaking group, and Carmen & Jose Nunez with the Spanish speaking members. I am grateful for their leadership in the program, and Bertha Keenan Director of Religious Education coordinating the whole process

with the diocesan office. It is a great gift, to be able to share the faith with others, and our whole Christian life is about it. We don’t want to be in heaven by ourselves, as we don’t want to be on earth alone either. Sharing our faith is about sharing our deepest self, we could say it’s about sharing our soul with others. Our place of faith and love, deep in our hearts it’s the same place, and it is from that place, that we love God, others and even ourselves. Faith and love, are the most fundamental and personal experiences of our lives, and on them the rest of our life is built. So it is important, that we continue to educate our faith, and strengthen it by faith experiences. Same we do with our friendships and love, that continue to grow and give meaning and taste to our life. As Jesus says: “I have come that you may have life and have it abundantly”. Jn 10:10 ;and in another place He says: “ I have told you these things, so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete”. Jn 17:11 As the Apostle says: “we need to give an account of the faith that is in us”, that is the whole meaning of being blessed and sharing this blessedness with others. We pray for all those who are to be baptized, who make their first confession, First Communion and Confirmation. It is entering into full relationship with Jesus himself, by receiving the full stream of grace from the Blessed Trinity. It will be interesting in heaven, to try to figure out how we are related to each person of the Blessed Trinity? How the Sacraments transformed our lives, our souls, our bodies? How they made us participate in the life, death and the resurrection of Jesus? In the first reading today, Elijah was trying to meet God passing by. And he didn’t perceive Him in the power of wind , or earthquake, or fire, but he perceived Him passing in the quiet of the whisper. God’s power manifests itself not in the power of destruction, but in the power of gentle presence and love, not imposing itself but proposing itself to us. St. Paul is so overwhelmed with the love of Christ, that he wishes everyone could perceive that love, and if it would help, he would sacrifice his own connection to Christ for it, if it was to help many. But Jesus never stops amazing us with his approach to life and to his friends. Going to pray in solitude, Jesus returns to his friends walking on the water. Peter fascinated by Jesus wants to do the same, but his luck of focus on Jesus makes him start sinking in the sea, frightened by the winds. Jesus reproves Peter for doubting the constancy and infinity of his love. We need to train our focus on Jesus, on his immensity of love, on his saving power. “Lord, save me!” is the cry of Peter, the best prayer he ever made. Too bad he didn’t remember it later when he was questioned before betraying Jesus. “Lord, save me!” - sounds like the prayer of the Good Thief on the cross: “Jesus , remember me when you come into your kingdom.” As we see in the Gospel, Jesus answers both prayers immediately catching Peter by extending his hand, and promising paradise to the Good Thief. Jesus answers our prayers immediately! Very straight forward! He saves everyone who asks for it ! How big are our prayers ??? What are we asking for??? Are we asking for salvation for ourselves and for others? If yes!, you can be sure that Jesus hand is stretched out towards you, in fact both of his hands are. Do you see them outstretched??? Make than your prayer: Lord, save me!!! This is the best prayer ever said for oneself and for anyone for whom we say it! You believe it??? God bless everyone always !!! Fr. Stan

XIX DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO 1Re 19,9.11-13 Sl 84 Rom 9,1-5 Mt 14,22-33
