Director for Hope Exchange

Ministry Opportunities for 2010 Hope Exchange

There are a number of ways members can be a part of Hope Exchange this summer. Volunteer Coordinator. This ministry was identified as being the most needed. The volunteer would work with the parish staff and Assistant Director to help recruit and schedule volunteers for the various needs of the program: teams of members that prepare and serve food for the weekly Parent Empowerment Dinners; readers with the children during the day; helpers during lunch to give teachers a break; be the contact for youth groups that seek to volunteer; and those who can assist with field trips as needed. The volunteer is not asked to be present for all activities. Parent Empowerment Dinners. Five teams are needed to prepare and serve dinner for these weekly dinners during Hope Exchange. One member of the team is asked to be the contact. Funds are available to purchase food. Readers. Members are needed to be a reading partner with a child or small group of children for 30 minutes after the lunch hour. Field Trips. Occasionally members are needed to go on Friday Field Trips. Parents are asked to attend but are not always available. Contact Rick Britton or our Director Joy Paul ([email protected]) if you can volunteer or need more information.

We welcome Joy Paul as the Director of East Nashville Hope Exchange for 2010. Joy has experience in education and a heart for working in the inner city. The anniversary march begins at 10:00AM starting at Tennessee State University and ending at City Hall. See flyer in All Saints’ Hall for more information.

CHILDREN & YOUTH

Don’t forget Silent Sunday on May 2nd—Youth Mission Trip Fundraiser

St. Ann’s Easter Egg Hunt

Youth Group Mission Trip to Panama City Beach, Florida July 5-10 The Youth Group will be staying and working with a local organization called ‘Noah's Ark.’ Its mission is making God’s presence known by doing work around the Ark, as well as working on their sponsored local organizations that include a women's shelter, orphanage, and retirement home. The mission effort also includes a street ministry as our youth are paired up with another group to feed the homeless. The youth will be accompanied by Kristin Wells (Advisor), Bill Ralston, and Fr. Rick. Contact Kristin for more information. Kristin Higdon may also be joining us for part of the week. The EYC members are very excited about the mission trip and appreciate the love and support of St. Ann's that encourages our youth to serve and seek Christ. You can read more about Noah's Ark at www.noahsarkpcb.com

ADMINISTRATION

The vestry approved money this past fall to repair our building. With the help of Jack McElwain, a number of bids for work on St. Ann’s roof, brick, dormers, floor tiles, interior plaster and painting were received. We have now approved four offers to begin various portions of these repairs. We have also approved some

brick and mortar repairs to begin very soon on the exterior of Howe Hall. This work will be followed by replacement of missing roof tiles. Tiles on the first floor have been replaced or re-glued. Keith Dixon welded a broken spot on the handrail

Repairs and Maintenance on Building and Grounds

leading down to the office. Work will begin soon to remove the old fence next to our playground. A roof-ing company will be replacing missing roof tiles once the other exterior work has been completed. We will be approving an additional bid for interior plaster and painting work in the near future. I especially want to acknowledge Jack McElwain’s help in securing the bids and speaking with contractors. Julia and Ashley Thompson and Kristen Deitrick contributed to the beautification of our grounds on Holy Saturday. Julia Thompson is taking the lead position with our gardeners and will submit a plan for some modifications to our grounds. Tom Hardin, Senior Warden

Members are invited to attend these informal meetings. The purpose is to share information about the activities and plans of the various ministries and groups in the parish. They also are an opportunity to share ideas that may help these ministries.
