A SUCCESSIVE COLLECTIVE UPANAYANS FUNCTION IN PUNE.

Pune 27 April - The collective threading ceremony, organized by SSK Samaj trust pune on the occasion of ABSSK Samaj centenary year. 89 vatus and 3,500 samaj bandhus participated in this function of collective upanayans. The office bearers of Nanded, Solapur, Thane, Ahemdanagar, Bhiwandi, Yeola, Sangamner, Parabhani, Vasamath, Dharangaon, Manavat, Malegaon etc gramsabhas attended the function and those who were unable to attend the function gave their best wishes through phones.

SAKANSHTI CHATURTHI. Sankashti chaturthi also known as sankata hara chaturthi is an auspicious

day dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It is celebrated on every fourth day of the full moon or Krishna paksha according to the Hindu calendar. It is a very famous fast observed by most women for the welfare of their families.

Sankashti means deliverance from the troubled. Thus observing this vrat is believed to reduce all the problems in person’s life, because Lord Ganesha is the remover of all obstacles and problems. People observe strict fast on the day of sankashti chaturthi and break the fast only at night after viewing the moon. During each month, Lord Ganesha is worshipped with a different name and peeta (Lotus petal). The story for each month is recited while worshipping Lord Ganesha on sankashti chaturthi. Apart from Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva is also worshipped.

Flower offered to Lord Ganesha in Hinduism, every deity has his/her favorite flower. Flowers have a very crucial role to play in the Hindu way of worship. It is said that if you worship the deity by offering His/her favorite flower, all your wishes will be fulfilled.

Offering of flowers to a deity is more than just a ritual. It is believed that there are some subtle frequencies of deities present in the atmosphere which are attracted towards the color of certain specific flowers when these deities are offered their favorite flowers or leaves, these frequencies are then emitted back into the atmosphere this helps in creating positive energy in the place. This positive energy drives a human being to fulfill his goals in life.

It is believed that Lord Ganesha is attracted towards the red colored hibiscus flower.

An sankashti chaturthi vrata has to be done without eating food. Drinking too much fluid (often, even, water) eating tobacco or betel nuts or betel leaves or any other activity prohibited by vrata will break the fast. The grantha says that the vrata has to be broken at the moonrise time after doing pooja to Gane-sha and argya to Ganesha one can drink water but not too often. One cannot smoke or consume alcohol or eat meat of any kind during vrata or after break-ing the fast, and the fast cannot be broken with meat products.

If this sankashti chaturthi falls on Tuesday, it is called angaraki sankashti chaturthi. It is considered highly among all sankashti chaturthi days.

Their adorable Devi is Shir Shilam Kota Yelamba (Yellamma) in Aladurga a village in Andhra near Bidar. This village has got the name Aladurga due to the Muslim reign. The original name is shilam kota. This temple was built by the kalyani chalukyas. Shilam kota Yellamma Devi of Chauhan, Mengaji, Burbure of Solapur; Chauhan, Mengaji of Gulburga; Chauhan, Burbure of Gadag; Chauhan of

Humanabad. There are some rules of this Devi, the poojas are being performed by the priests of SSK races. The feature is that the bath, anoint, decoration, should be performed by the women, men are not allowed at that time, even there I prohibition for the entrance of very small baby boy, it is unknown that there is boy or girl in the pregnant woman, so there is prohibition of entrance for pregnant women also. The women who come for the darshan of Shri Devi should decorate the devi as they have decorated themselves. This feature is seen in shri shilam kota yellamma temple. It is said that this custom has been continued from previous.It is a strange thing that, there is a small town in France named Burbure, can you believe this?

Durga Homa, in the afternoon at 12-30 pm sacrifice, punarahuti were performed then after the valedictory function the aarti was sung by all, after that the Mahaprasad was distributed. In the morning at 10-00 am kumarika puja was performed.

As a part of the function ‘Belgavi Tavaru Mane’ organization was established all the daughters of every family in Belgaum were invited for the function.

Bellary 14th April - On 14-04-2016 in the evening at 5-30 pm, “Lalitha Sahasra Namavali and Kunkumarchane” was conducted by SSK Samaj Mahila mandal of Bellary in Shri Ambabhavani Temple to celebrate Durgashtami. The function went through devotionally; lot of women’s performed kunkumarchane. After the puja, the dinner (prasada) was arranged in the temple.

My infinite ‘ Hello ‘ to all SSK Samaj bandhan.A Preliminary meeting was organized in Bangalore,

regarding the completion of 100 years of the first sammelan of ABSSK Samaj, to celebrate the current year 2016 as centenary year. Preliminary meeting when said, may be it will go through in a room or very small meeting hall, was my feedback.

But two days before preliminary meeting, nor only we got the invitation along with the couple but also the place for us to stay & an elaborative information about the places of the preliminary meeting was given by contacting us through phones. After reaching there another wonder & happy consent was that, the preliminary meeting was organized in the spacious yard of Khoday’s commerce centre, which is at kanakpura in Bangalore, every corner of the yard was very beautifully decorated as if it seemed to be a bride, besides this was member who arrived for the meeting to the meeting hall. After entering in them hall we saw the decoration made to the majestic idol of Lord Ganesha & the pooja was performed with rituals. From there as we entered into the hall, we were feeling, as if we have entered during Raja Maharaja’s ancient times. The complete meeting hall. Stage decoration & arrangement of seats & every such arrangement was also sublime & neat, which made us happy & feel proud. It also made us to sink in the imagination that, if the preliminary meeting is such an awesome then what like will be the celebration of centenary year.

In this meeting, the main dignitaries of SSK Samaj from several states with the couples arrived & expressed their gladness to attend the meeting which was called for the discussion about, how & where to celebrate the centenary year & also gave their opinions, elaborately, presented the directions, among those I have chosen some of the factors & brought it to the notice of samaj bandhus through SSK Times for which I Feel Happy.

Firstly Shri Satyanarayansa Damam the working president of ABSSK Samaj gave a warm welcome to everyone then, hon president & the mastermind of the function Shri Harisa L. Khoday in his introductory note said that, the people of our samaj living in different states have changes in their wondering precepts & spoken language according, to their settlement even though they are of one samaj bandhus by conducting sessions of samaj , let us not make their efforts unfruitful & let us make efforts to secure it.

Beholding today’s status of the country the caste census is openly conducted, let us realize how much it is important is our samaj people to unite at the national level Political, Social, Economical thus in every field our samaj bandhus should grow . In that regard, we have to conduct a phenomenal session, so that the whole

country turns & looks at our samaj. For the spectacular celebration of session centenary year, we should invite the proud Prime minister of our country Hon. Shri Narendra Modi & the first citizen of our country the President Hon. Shri Pranab Mukherji, hence he started that it is his with is organize the celebration of centenary year in the region which is feasible for them to come from Deshi in the morning & return back in the evening . He requested all the present dignitaries to adduce their opinions regarding this.

Then the former legislator of solapur Shri Narasingsa Mengaji said that our samaj has not only the history of 100 years but also it has been carried out during Raja Maharaja’s which has the history of 200 years is available in written form he adds, 100 years back the resident of solapur. Late Shri Govindsa .Bhagawanthsa .Bakale saw a dream to unite all the samaj bandhus of solapur & organize a session, but due to some cause it was not possible in solapur, then he turned to Amaravati nearby.

While economically & educationally the samaj bandhus of Amaravati were abled, that brought strength to his association effort. As a result of which in December 1916 under the guidance of Late Shri Keshavsa .Vittalsa .Bhandari, the first educational convention went through. As G.B. Bakale was the resident of Solapur & because of his efforts, the first session went through. So as a part of his remembrance Narsingsa Mengaji asked an opportunity to organize the celebration of centenary year in solapur. Also, he added that solapur is in the border of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, there are all contact facilities, big grounds, staying arrangements for guests & other facilities that are needed for the session. Beside this, there are samaj bandhus who are financially & socially rich in the samaj. There are more than 500 social activists who are excited to celebrate the centenary year. The Samaj bandhus of neighboring states & cities should come & make the session successful. He requested an opportunity to be given to make efforts for which they are ready.

A single MLC of the samaj Shri Narayansa Bhandage stated that instead of discussing where to celebrate, how to celebrate is very important, the youngsters of

the samaj should take an interest. The message about the celebration of the centenary year should reach to every house of the samaj is very important. The A.B.S.S.K convention at Hubballi in 1975 – 1976 that I have seen with my eyes was very awesome.
