Please pray for the repose of the souls of David O’Bryan, father of Heather Webster, who died October 28, 2020, and Doris Viertel, grandmother of Brian Viertel and Trevor Viertel, who died October 31, 2020. “May the souls of your faithful departed, through Your mercy Oh God, rest in peace, and may their families and friends receive comfort from the Lord.”

November 13: Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini (1850-1917 ) Burly longshoremen glared at the woman in widow’s dress who interrupted their drinking to beg money, in broken English, for her orphanage. The bar exploded in laughter as one man responded by spi ng in her face. “That was for me,” the woman smiled. “Do you have anything for the children?” Given today’s na onal climate, could it be as much God’s sense of humor as God’s will for our sanc fica on that our first American saint should be an immigrant and naturalized ci zen? Frances Cabrini, adop ng the name Xavier, confided to Pope Leo XIII her longing to follow her Jesuit patron to Asia. But the Pope replied, “Not East—West!” So she and her Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart exchanged exo c dreams of China for the impoverished reality of Italian ghe os across the United States and Central and South America. Before her death, Frances had founded 70 educa onal, health care, child, and family service ins tu ons. Today, from Siberia to Ethiopia, in 16 countries, Mother Cabrini’s sisters and lay associates embody her prac cal spirituality: “Let’s get to work! We’ll have eternity to rest!”

In conjunc on with the SSPP Youth Food Drive, Headlines would like to help contribute. Everyone who comes in whether for a service, to buy retail or just loitering, for every item you bring in, your name will be entered into a drawing for a gi cer ficate or other prizes. Giveaway ends November 14th. Also, from now un l November 13th Midwest Autoworx will take $10 off any service when you bring in a dona on to the food drive box at their Boonville loca on.

Thanks to all who par cipated in and contributed to Box of Joy! What a successful project! We can only imagine the joy and smiles of less fortunate children when they open their boxes at Christmas! Our parish filled 149 Box of Joy boxes and contributed $1,544 in monetary dona ons, which will cover the shipping cost ($9/box) leaving $182 for an addi onal dona on to Cross Catholic Outreach. May God bless you all, Anecita Alvizo and Lauren Cowherd, project coordinators

Tolton’s Blaze of Glory Moving Online Due to limitations on large gatherings, the 2020 Blaze of Glory Gala will be moving to an online auction this year. While we will miss the fellowship & the community building that this event provides, we are excited about the opportunity to reach supporters that normally may not have been able to participate.

Thanks to our friends at Atterberry Auction and Realty, the online auction page opened Saturday, November 7and will close Friday, November 13. There will be lots of great auction items to bid on, as well as fun new games of chance. We hope we can count on your support as we blaze new trails this year! For more information, visit www.toltoncatholic.org/blaze-of-glory.
