Year of Mercy

Moved with Pity Reading I: 1 Kings 17:17–24 (Elijah and the widow) Reading II: Galatians 1:11–19

(Paul called by Christ) Gospel: Luke 7:11–17 (the widow’s son)

Key Passage: “As Jesus approached the gate of the town, a man who had died was being carried out. He was his mother’s only son, and she was a widow; and with her was a large crowd from the town. When the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her, “Do not weep.” (Luke 7:12–13) Adult: To whom can you show a greater sense of com-passion and mercy? Youth: To whom can you be more caring this week? How would you show that to him or her?

On Wednesday, May 18th we shared our appreciation meal for all Catechists, Aides and their families. What a fun time we had with more than 50 people in attendance! A heart-felt appreciation goes out to Colleen Saxon, Elsie Christie, Jackie Risinger, Candice Wade, Dee Embry and Wanda Slye for preparing the Christus Center and our delicious meal! Christ the King would like to thank all 2015-2016 Catechists and Aides: Robin Roach, Michelle Meyer, Shaila Meyer, Rebecca Durrett, Felicia Broyard, Leslie Mancini, Jennifer Gennari, Michael Adams, Meghan Pare, Ann Chalupa, Analiza Ramirez, Ana Munoz, Ayda Rodriguez, Esther Valdez, Natalie O'Grady, Brian O'Grady, Michelle LePak, Paul Lepak, Chris Mauser, Lisa Browning, Charlene Laxson, Karen Wallar, Chrystal Vriseno, Diane Waite, Al Waite Their awesome contribution of time and talent to Christ the King’s Religious Education program is greatly appreci-ated! Because of their efforts, we can fulfill the mission as a Church - to teach the faith to our children and help sup-port the parents/guardians as they pass on the faith to their families. Being a catechist is demanding. The time and energy it takes to be a good catechist is great, but the rewards are many. In some ways, they take on the role of the Sower (Parable of the Sower) as they share our be-liefs and plant the seeds of faith, hope and love.

The Confirmation Class of 2016 and their families would like to thank Mary Queen of the Rosary for providing the beauti-ful reception. The Christus Center was lovely, decorated with red and white

tablecloths, and the cakes and refresh-ments were enjoyed by all!
