Every Monday 10:00 am Mindfulness and MeditationMindfulness and Meditation is an opportunity for students to break away from the busyness of college life andpause and breathe. It is open to people of all faiths, creeds, backgrounds, etc. People with no experience are welcome and encouraged to join! Come and discover the power of meditation to help you relax and find inner peace. Located in Chapel 105. Attend three Mindfulness and Mediation sessions to attain an engagement point towards your Pfeiffer Life Mental, Physical & Spiritual Wellness badge.

Every Wednesday 10:00 am – 11:00 am ChapelAs an interbelief and ecumencial community, Pfeiffer Chapel is designed as a sacred space for students to explore and develop their beliefs and values through worship, conversation, and experiential learning. Throughout the year students will engage in traditional, contemporary, and fresh expressions of worship as well as deliberate discussions about their beliefs and values in the context of their local and global communities. These opportunities allow for students to build community and engage religion and spirituality in innovative and meaningful ways. Students can earn a Pfeiffer Life engagement point by attending three chapel services and submitting one reflection which touches on key elements of each service.

Every Thursday 7:00 pm CAP (Catholics at Pfeiffer)Students, faculty, and staff gather to learn about the Catholic faith. Each week, we focus on one of the saints and the lessons that can be learned from their lives. When the Catholic priest is in attendance, we play, “Stump the Priest,” where participants can ask him their toughest questions! Participants are given rosariesand one decade is recited. Students can earn a Pfeiffer Life engagement point by attending three and completing a reflection. Located in the Learning Center (1/2 floor up from the cafeteria.)

Friday Mornings 10:00 am – 11:00 am LEAD CafeLEAD (Leadership Exploration and Discovery) Café workshops provide opportunities for students to engage in interactive projects and conversations about topics in Servant Leadership. Students may earn Pfeiffer Life credit in the areas of Servant Leadership and Global and Cultural Awareness; though some sessions will allow for other categories as well depending on the topic area. For more information please visit http://serve.pfeiffer.edu. Located in the Stokes leadership lounge (room 215).

1/13/19 9:30 am - 1:30 pm Community Table Meal Service Volunteers will work together to cook and serve a meal for up to 100 low-income residents of Stanly County. Because of kitchen space, this event is limited to 20 volunteers. Volunteers will have the opportunity to eat alongside clients. Meet in the Leadership Lounge. What does Jesus, Gautama Buddha, and/or Muhammad say about the stranger? Do our places of worship condone acts of war? How should we care for others and the world around us in light of our beliefs and values? Come find out at Intersections, a new form of chapel that explores the crossroads between faith and learning. While not a typical worship service, Intersections encourages students to critically think about their beliefs and values as they relate to contemporary issues in our world and local communities. This spring Intersections will explore topics of voting rights, bad theology, immigration, vocational discernment, and food insecurity among others.

1/23/20 1:00pm Haley Zoltoski's summer research talk This past summer, Haley Zoltoski had the opportunity to conduct research in the Amazon Rainforest in Ecuador and study at the Duke Marine Lab in Beaufort, North Carolina. She will be sharing her experiences and discussing how students can get involved in summer research. Her talk will be held in the Administration Theater on the 3rd floor of the Administration Building. Please consider attending this event! She will share insight and great pictures.

The conversation happens in small groups that are facilitated by students who open, lightly guide, and close when an hour has passed. The questions themselves are not limited to religious or spiritual topics and generally lead to bigger discussions, which we welcome wholeheartedly!

2/9/20 2:00pm NC Native Plant Society : Rain Gardens The Southern Piedmont section of the NC Native Society has a meeting and a talk each month at a nature preserve in Charlotte. Attending this would be an opportunity for students to learn about something they'd typically never be exposed to and also see how organizations like these within a community work to bring people from different walks of life together to focus on a shared interest, dedicating time to interact with others around the topic of interest. 3/21/20 9:00am-2:00pm Stanly County Arts Council's Celebration of the ArtsThe Celebration of the Arts showcases all areas of artists in Stanly County. Students from the local schools, including Pfeiffer, submit art work to be displayed. Local Artists set up booths/exhibits of their work. Many of the artist actually work on pieces while at their booths. Local talent groups are available with information about upcoming performances, as well as how to join them as participants. Live performances by local talent take place on two stages (the large auditorium stage and a smaller stage in the lobby) throughout the day. The event is followed by a ceremony that honors The Stanly County Art Educator of the Year and the Stanly County Arts Person of the Year.

This is an outdoor event providing the opportunity to view an array of celestial objects through a telescope and observe the great diversity of insects flying around Gibson Lake at night. We will have telescopes and an insect landing platform set up to allow for a closer (and safe) look at a diversity of nocturnal insects and other arthropods.

An etiquette coach will walk you through the appropriate dress, networking techniques, which fork to use, and how to eat difficult foods like pasta in a professional dinner setting. Every Wednesday 10:00 am – 11:00 am ChapelAs an interbelief and ecumencial community, Pfeiffer Chapel is designed as a sacred space for students to explore and develop their beliefs and values through worship, conversation, and experiential learning. Throughout the year students will engage in traditional, contemporary, and fresh expressions of worship as well as deliberate discussions about their beliefs and values in the context of their local and global communities. These opportunities allow for students to build community and engage religion and spirituality in innovative and meaningful ways. Students can earn a Pfeiffer Life engagement point by attending three chapel services and submitting one reflection which touches on key elements of each service.

Every Thursday 7:00 pm CAP (Catholics at Pfeiffer)Students, faculty, and staff gather to learn about the Catholic faith. Each week, we focus on one of the saints and the lessons that can be learned from their lives. When the Catholic priest is in attendance, we play, “Stump the Priest,” where participants can ask him their toughest questions! Participants are given rosaries and one decade is recited. Students can earn a Pfeiffer Life engagement point by attending three and completing a reflection. Located in the Learning Center (1/2 floor up from the cafeteria.)

3/18/19 4:00 pm Disaster SimulationThe senior nursing students will be triaging simulated “victims” of the Boston Marathon disaster. This simulation is a collaboration with the art department who will be applying moulage (to simulate the injuries).
