    Dyslexia is a registered disability under the Chronically Sick & DisabledPersons Act 1970, Education Act 1993, and the Disability DiscriminationAct 1995.Dyslexia affects people of all ages.Many adults go undiagnosed and it affects their work performance.Dyslexia is a specific learning disability and is thought to be inherited butthe causes have not fully been established.

    What it will look like :

    ***When your child reads and spells, does he frequently:

    Confuse letters that look similar: d - b, u - n, m n? Confuse letters that sound the same: v, f, th? Reverse words: was - saw, now won? Transpose words: left - felt? Read a word correctly and then further down the page, read it wrong? Change words around: the cat sat on the mat (the mat sat on the

    cat)?

    Confuse small words: of, for, from? When reading has difficulty in keeping the correct place on a line and

    frequently loses his place? Read correctly but does not understand what he is reading?

    Dyscalculia

    Is the inability to preform simpleoperations in Mathematics andArithmetic.

    It can also be described as extreme

    difficulty with numbers.

    Children with Dyscalculia have difficulty with:

    **Is a neurological disorder.**It affects 10% of the population.

    ** the inability to perform operations inhandwriting.

    *** It can be described as an extreme difficultywith fine-motor skills.

    What it will look like:

    Handwriting will be barely legible. Writing will appear incorrect Letters will be different sizes Different size spaces between letters

    Margins and following a straight line aredifficult.

    Writing by hand is sometimes painful.
