When we speak bout 1ppl we say “s/he," (spanish = el/la).
In Spanish, we drop the r, s, mos or n;leaving us with just the vowel at the end.
For example: llama = s/he calls habla = s/he
speaks come = s/he eats bebe = s/he drinks está = s/he is es* = s/he is tiene** = s/he has
*fr. Ser – irregular **fr. Tener – stem-changing
Nosotros tenemos tres verbos diferentes.
(1) Los verbos que (that) son regular.a. andar --> anda (s/he walks)b. ver --> ve (s/he sees)
(2) Los verbos que cambian (change) "e" --> "ie"a. venir* --> viene (s/he comes)b. querer --> quiere (s/he wants)
(3) Los verbos que cambian "o" or "u" --> "ue"a. encontrar --> encuentra (s/he meets)b. jugar --> juega (s/he plays)
*verbos que terminan (end) con “-ir": cambias "i" a "e"
First, there was “estar,”Then, “de donde”
Now…
The secret ofStem-changing verbs
When we “conjugate” the verb we change the accent to the penultimate syllable.
VIE-ne
Verbs, when they end with –r, mean “to (do something)”
e.g.: venir –to come
We accent the ultimate syllable
ve-NIR
