The final gathering last week concluded the Rekindling program for the year. The
program included 6 students from our school including; Tristan Boney, Ashley
Tibbet, Cate Duroux, Isaiah Thornton, Danniella Gilmore and Jaylah Wyatt. These students proudly represented our

at the Saraton Theatre last Friday. A big thank you to the Bangarra Dance
Company Choreographers and the Department of Education Youth Program, Kerry Skinner, Crystal Donovan and
Wendy Dalton for providing this opportunity for our indigenous students to
connect to local stories through dance.

PBL focus this fortnight is "Take pride
in what you do". How does this look at school? Trying your
personal best, wearing uniform, using your manners. Having pride in yourself
and your achievements will help you to strive for even better results and
give you a great sense of personal
satisfaction.
CSI Term 2 – Bridges This term at CSI, the students have been studying bridges. Students have learnt
about bridge design, construction, materials and challenges. Each of the
groups attended an excursion which included a session with one or two engineers. During these visits the
students heard from the engineers responsible for building the bridges, and
learnt about engineering as a career prospect.
Two groups visited the Grafton Bridge and
met with Adrian Miller and Brendan Keane, two groups visited Sportsmans
Creek Bridge and met with Gavin Rayward and Vadivel Kumaradasan, another group
visited the Northern Region office, where they learned about the Country Bridge Solutions initiative from Project Director
David Andrews. The last group visited both Grafton Bridge and Sportsmans
Bridge.
The presenters were extremely impressed
with the quality and number of questions from the talented students.
Students are now undertaking a Paddle pop bridge building challenge which is to
be judged with our CSIRO Scientist in the classroom partner, Engineer James Armstrong.
A big thank you has been extended to Adam Carroll, David Andrews, Gavin
Rayward, Vadivel Kumaradasan, Adrian Miller, Brendan Keane, Jodi Austin and James Armstrong who have given their
time and energy to assist in the organisation and delivery of these
fabulous experiences for the CSI students.
