• South America is to the north of Antarctica
• South America is between the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean

• There are many countries in South America
• The biggest country in South America is Brazil
People in South America
• Most people in South America speak Spanish
• But, in Brazil, they speak Portuguese!
Weather in South America
• The weather in most of South America is warm and wet.
• The equator goes through the middle of South America and makes it hot.
Animals in South America
• Many interesting animals live in the Amazon Rainforest in South America.
• The enormous green anaconda is the world’s largest snake and it lives in the Amazon Rainforest.

of land
• It is home to 2.5 billion types of insects
• Tens of thousands of types of plants
• 2000 birds and mammals (animals which have babies and not eggs)
• 75,000 types of trees
