If approved, the light rail system will more than double to 116 miles with over 80 stations. Commuter rail and Bus rapid transit projects are also included in the plan. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

ABOUT THE POSITION

The CHRO provides direction and oversight for all functions and activities of the Human Resources Department, including, recruitment and selection, employee and labor relations, benefits, EEO program oversight, training and talent management, organizational development, classification, compensation and HRIS.

Reporting directly to the CEO Office and participating as an active member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CHRO will be a key executive partner and coach facilitating strategic initiatives and planning, organizational design and change management. Leading a group of 15 HR professionals, this role is responsible for the management of HR issues for a budgeted population of over 800 employees.

• Provide vision, leadership, direction and oversight to Sound Transit human resource delivery system, programs and services.

• Develop robust recruiting, on-boarding and retention processes to attract the quality, depth and diversity of talent needed to meet Sound Transit’s future staff needs.

• Lead, create and enhance the workplace culture, people practices, diversity, policies, programs and processes.

• Partner with agency leaders and managers to sustain effective performance management and ensure development processes are in place for continual growth and training of employees.

• Lead, direct and oversee the creation and implementation of short and long-term human resource strategies and programs to cultivate high performance throughout the agency.

• Develop, administer and oversee the division’s annual budget; make recommendation and forecasts for future funds needed.

• Maintain a modern position classification system which is responsive to the changing needs of departments and reflects core competencies of the job classifications.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Sound Transit is seeking a courageous, credible, unifying leader who is deeply committed to the success of the Agency, is a strategic big-picture thinker, and will be able to set up the Agency to be an employer of choice, responsive to the workforce demands of the future.

Bachelor’s degree plus eight years of Human Resources Management experience. Master’s degree or SHRM certification is a plus.

COMPENSATION

APPLICATION PROCESS

The hiring salary range for this position is $150,148 - $187,685. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long-term disability insurance; a 401A retirement plan; holiday, vacation, and sick leave; employee assistance program; ORCA transit pass and guaranteed ride home.
