You don’t have to know what You want to do with Your life right now. the idea is to prepare Yourself for the maximum number of possibilities. one sure waY to do that is bY learning as much as You can about college.

For instance, did you know that the University of Missouri offers more than 280 majors? That’s important, because if you change your mind (like many students do), you’ll still have plenty of choices.

With 34,748 students, Mizzou’s campus life can keep you busy. Making friends here is actually a lot easier than you might think. Residential learning communities allow you to live and take classes with students who share your interests. When you’re not studying, there are 700-plus student clubs to explore, an award-winning Student Recreation Complex and Tiger athletics to make school spirit roar.

You won’t literallY find columbia listed in the dictionarY as the definition of “college town,” but it could be. Money, Men’s Journal, MSN.com and U.S. News & World Report all rave about Mizzou’s hometown. So do our students — with good reason. Columbia is filled with Tigers and Tiger-friendly businesses. Just across the street from campus is downtown Columbia where you can:

• enjoY more than 300 restaurants.

• listen to live music in nearlY 40 venues ranging from coffee houses to clubs to concert halls.

• shop for clothes, books, gifts and more.

• see blockbuster movies and art-house films.

• stroll through the citY’s livelY street festivals.

KnOwledge Is pOwer.different universities have different admission requirements. Make sure you know the requirements at each institution you’re considering, and continue to challenge yourself in high school academics. Here is a list of the classes Mizzou requires for admission.

• english FoUr Units, one oF which May be in speech or debate; two Units eMphasizing coMposition or writing skills

• science three Units (not inclUding general science), one oF which MUst be a lab

• social studies three Units

• mathematics FoUr Units, algebra 1 and higher

• foreign language two Units oF the saMe langUage

• fine arts one Unit

take the act or sat in the spring of your junior year. that way, you’ll have time to take it again if you want or need to.
